    • This is all fucked up. I hope he really releases the beast now though. And I know someone else already pointed this out but it bugged me ever since It dropped, with his Let Me Through verse, how he says "Cash Money mascot, it's 'hot under this 'costume". As if the situation was uncomfortable, not good, etc. Idek but this shit is all sorts of fucked. Never thought we'd see this.

Really honestly anything could happen with it. But we won't know until it does which fucking sucks. What we can bet on is that this is NOT a stunt, of any sort, which i even thought it could have been when it first happened, but now that Wayne came out and said that shit at that VICE birthday bash thing, ain't no way that's even possible anymore. We'll have to wait and see, which like i said fucking sucks. But still, it's looking like this is going to be the beginning of a new era for Wayne, and hopefully it is.

          • Wonder how this will impact C5 though. I bet the idea of splitting it into parts was CM's idea.

Wonder however Wayne releases it, if it will be double disk. Because we know there is a shit ton of C5 sessions.

            • Does Cash Money own all of Wayne's songs? Meaning if he goes to another label he can't use the ones he already recorded for c5 while on cm ? Idk if this has been asked already or not.

Yeah ain't no one leaving the gravy train. Don't bit the hand that feeds. Only nicki and drake could conceivably leave and make more money eslewhere, but I bet it's damage control right now and they are being sorted with coin

We aren't getting shit on December 9th. Not even an off cut.. Cash money isn't going to release Wayne music or promote him if c5 ain't coming out

That's been the case since the mid 2000s. So many artists come, hang around, appear on a dedication or two, then go, cause nothing happens. I'm surprised mack Maine has stayed so long. He's making bank that's why.. He knows he wouldn't make much as a rapper.

As I said before, it's interesting situation of who owes who. These guys are family which makes it crazy. But for everyone shouting that birdman and slim owe Wayne cause he had the label on his back in the 2000s, don't forget they took Wayne in as a child and taught him what he knows about the game and the life. They put him on repeatedly and kept him in money. Wayne wouldn't be where he is right now without them, and they wouldn't be as rich as they are now without Wayne..

                Who owes who?

I was actually going to say something about this in my last post, and of course i'm not sure and no one is except the label and the label mates. But in regards to only-C5 material, i would say that the material that he's already and will record, wouldn't have any baring on his current contractual situation with Cash Money and i don't think they 'own' any of his material that hasn't been released yet. Material and albums that have been released though they would still receive their compensation for any sales those albums made. But because none of the C5 material, except the songs already released, have actually been released, then they are or should be Wayne's intellectual property, solely because it hasn't been released yet. Now i could be wrong but this would be my guess, unless we have Wayne's contract with Cash Money in hand officially somewhere we'll never know exactly what that contract entails.

                  • The most logically situation for Wayne if he gets off CM is to take YM and make it independent then pick a distribution partner like OVO, MGG, TDE etc.

It depends entirely on the contract, but almost all record deals assign a certain percentage of ownership to the record label. What that percentage is will be defining in whether Wayne can release music or not. Most artists don't own their own masters, which means they don't own the rights and royalties to their back catalogue. The Beatles didn't own their own masters. Jay z owns his because he has been shrewd.

What this means is that Wayne cannot re release old music without the go ahead from his label, and without paying them a percentage of whatever he makes from it. A lot of artists are paid in advance for their record, which is all the money they are likely to make from it, as the label then absorbs all the costs of the making that record and subsequently keeps all the profit from the record..

I dunno if that makes it any clearer, but I'm not sure what kind of deal Wayne has. It's unlikely he will be able to release it by himself independently of cash money
