Fine with me. I’d rather have a well received and highly praised project sell 817 than a garbage fire sell a million. 800+ in the streaming era is amazing... also considering a 5 year hiatus from music.

Carter V is flopping for lil wayne standards..... it should be at 1.5 million atleast!!!! they should have released a part 2 or atleast a deluxe version and more music videos... this is awful marketing

I agree the marketing could be a lot better but by no means is this a flop?? It’s the second highest first week streaming ever on an album full of 5 year old songs.

It annoys me when ppl complain about C5 not having any bangers or hit potential tracks on it. It’s so much deeper and more important than that. There’s at least 5 or 6 potential hits on here. Remember: hit songs don’t necessarily happen like they used to in this day and age.

Also you can 100% party to this album. There’s long stretches where the album parties, then pontificates, then weeps, etc. You can party to it, you can chill to it, you can zone out to it, you can fuck to it, you can work to it, whatever you want. Best of all you can learn from it. . To me that’s the sign of a dope ass fucking album.

i believe what people mean by the album not having bangers or "hits" is that the production on some of these songs aren't catchy.

Wayne did fine but the production isn't that good on some of the tracks so it takes away the album's replay value.

This is a different era though, with the streaming and shit. Doesn't seem right comparing it to the other Carters. 40 million first day streams or whatever it was, if everyone still bought albums and like 2.5% of those streamers bought it it would have gone platinum. Seems less 'real' trying to compute all that shit. Still a top selling artist nevertheless. They also seem to be just letting it do its thing and not tryna push it that much. I imagine they'll do more promo for the next non Carter album. It was #1, long as it goes platinum the dignity of the Carter series will be intact.
