  • New wayne

Anyone here who knows me knows I'm a big pain in the ass old school fan who holds wayne to a higher standard than most... Which makes it even harder for me to admit that wayne has finally got his groove back officially.

I still think moment and krazy are too ianahb2 for me, but better... And other than those two, I can safely say this is what I've been waiting for (for years). The new features especially, plus grindin, believe me, dusse are all passionate and wayne is rapping so hard and so good again. Makes me smile a big dumb grin.

Gotti is only further proof that wayne has taken the annoying flow and finally made it work. His lyrics are brilliant again, they just move faster than before. On ianahb2 he was using the same kind of flow but the lyrics were generally garbage (except gunwalk and latter part of the intro) and d5 was closer to the right direction. His lyrics are finally back on point and now I feel like he has evolved to the artist he SHOULD HAVE BEEN since D4. Now he's there and I am officially PSYCHED for carter 5.

    Just wanted to share.

If only the beat was good for Krazy and the hook, it would be so sick.

It could've easily be like 6f7f. He really shows some skills on that song.

    [Verse 1]
Tell me somethin' I don't know
I'm flexin' on 'em like torsos
These niggas slippin' like bar soap
These niggas listenin', use Morse code
Boy a nigga sippin' like hoarse throat
    Excuse me
These niggas talkin' that beef shit
We'll check into it like the room cheap
And all we sell is the greatest feelin' on Earth
They paint me as a villain, I just autograph the artwork
Ain't got nothing left to prove unless I got to prove it in court
Live fast die young and leave a beautiful corpse, yes Lord
My nigga order like twenty bricks, I sent five bricks with four chicks
Ridin' with these guns that's carpoolin', bought extra clips when I dove in
Miss Snow white we snowed in, nigga miss me with that whole shit
Kill all rats, I toast to that, and watch everybody I toast with
Kill everybody you close with, Just don’t stick your nose in
My bullshit cause I close it like a clothespin
The people that I rolls with will leave holes in what you drove in
If anyone in that car live, you tell that nigga I owe him
Yeah, I got my mind right, and my money right, my head on my shoulder
And my eyesight a lil' blurry but it stand on my quota
And we find out moms address and your head get mailed over
Nigga you make that bed you lay in that bed
Or get that bitch made over
    Tunechi

    [Verse 2]

Tell me something I don’t know, I’ll tell you something I do know
Like money drugs bitches guns, niggas call me mucho
Got witches all in my broom closet, got little killers in Chuco
We’ll find out your business hours and pop up like new toast
Like danger taste like glucose, my shadow don’t get too close
To that new nigga with my old hoes, kudos
For my niggas on Rikers Island back there playing Uno
Getting swole like Popeye for niggas walking around like Bruno
I’m in the bed with a duo, laid up like two points
A.K to your face, knock half off like coupons
Too cool for school but I sold cool points to school boys
Tell the cops we don’t name drop that's like dropping newborns
    Nigga you crazy

    [Verse 3]
Like where the fuck did my heart go, and show me something I haven’t seen
And give me what help Martin sleep, on the same night he had a dream
And take me to where I’ve never been, but not to where I’ll never be
And I ain’t never scared but I’m scared of me, me versus me I need a referee
Need weaponry, especially if the treasury in jeopardy
Fuck deputies big letter B, need equity, need credit cleaned
To trafficking from peddling like everything from amphetamines to medicine
These niggas sweeter than Nectarines and Grenadine

    [Verse 4]
Tell me something I don’t know, like what happened to hard coke
You can call me Eddy cause I stay ready, my family call me Eduardo
I’m music to these bitches ears I hit that ass like the wrong note
My bitch bad with corn rows with boots on in farm clothes
You can find me prancing in the finest mansion with the finest dancer with a height advantage
She want cocaine pills and weed, liquor and dick she gotta micro manage
I'm just eating rappers they go nice in salads with some diced up carrots
I just like a challenge, psychopathic, so psychopathic
Nigga give me credit... on my balance
    Lil Tunechi
(And I bump my head when I stand up)

And to me, Moment was very good aswell, I always get happy for some reason if that song comes up on shuffle

No, just chill bro. Wayne is real nice but he isn't even in the same playing field.

You're right about him bodying beats nowadays though, he is going in. Last time I heard him fucked up was def. IANAHB2 he was weak on that, mbut even then I fucked with him as always.

As for OP, I feel you, but I'm not sure Wayne is back to his best. He is now purely a punch line rapper. He's my second favourite rapper to listen to, behind jay, I could bump him for days and days, but even I can separate emotion and objectivity to see that Wayne is past his best now. Same as we will never get another Black album out of jay, never another MMLP out of em, never another illmatic out of nas, we will never get 04-09 Wayne back. But fuck I love listening to him.

I know what u mean, but technically wayne was always a punch line rapper. It's just a matter of which punch lines were better than others. My fav shit is c3 sessions and drought 3... I think sometimes - that was pretty much all punch lines, save for the odd story-song, but it just worked cos his flow and delivery were on point.

After a terrible period in last few years he is now sticking to the point a lot more and the non sequiturs are reigned in a bit. Plus the immature talk about pussy, being high and boasting about his crew is toned down more. That shit was cringe worthy after awhile.

@Olly: I just can't get on board with krazy like some of y'all. It's a lil too IANAHB2 for my tastes... It's got that wowzers flow at times, but worst of all I find a lot of the lyrics to be totally juvenile (bar soap, Eduardo, torsos, Bruno, etc.) But I can appreciate why ppl like it, I ain't hating. I listen to gotti or dusse or some of these dope features and think ok now this nigga is TRYING again. This shit is packed wall to wall with cleverness. And he's learning to avoid the cheesy again like he used to. He's finally learning to rap over modern trappy beats without sounding like a total fool. This isn't 2007 wayne but I can live with that now, if it's all gonna be good like this.

Yeah gotti is seriously a turning point in all this shit. When i first read people's comments (before hearing it myself) saying "another shit single" or "that IANAHB2 flow" i thought UGHHHHHHHHHH FUCK. but then i listened to it and within seconds of wayne's first verse i knew that this was something special. i could understand why people were saying the flow was weird, because it was def the new wayne flow, but now that his LYRICS are better the flow suddenly works better.

i aint gonna lie, there are times when i wish he would slow down again like the old days, but he is an artist evolving and i am finally warming up to the new wayne - and only because his lyrics are dope again. he is balancing the zany wayne sensibility with the street cred he used to have... it's a wonderful balance and it's about time he is pulling it off. you can tell he gives a shit again. IANAHB2 era was dark times... *shudder*

D5 was a turnaround point, but i still think half that tape is weak as fuck. i want c5 to be consistently dope all the way thru.

He just needs to get that dirty southern accent back on some songs, that's one thing that really put flavour into his verses before with the compliments of his syrup/kush croaky voice that was a lot deeper back then.

That's the sound I wanna hear back on his songs or at least the same accent and word pronunciations he was putting on songs.

It's more than just not talking about pussy. There's not much of a consistent flow to it. It's that halting, stop/start style to the extreme. Plus the 2:03 mark is the wowzers flow with some really dumbass lyrics.

And yes, krazy has a couple of good lines, but again,it's that IANAB2 style of flowing and rapping. it's a couple of steps above IANAHB2, but still not good IMO. i like when wayne flows consistent. listen to errrbody, think i'm lying, face down, gotti, d'usse, believe me, grindin... his flow is like never ending. he just rides the beat without falling too much into any one pattern. wayne needs to shape-shift when he raps or else it becomes fucking annoying, especially if the lyrics are weak (which none of those i just mentioned have weak lyrics, for the record.. they're all dope)

listen to gotti... the lyrics actually mean something. it's refreshing. i love random weezy too, but with the jumpy new flow it makes random weezy a little hard to listen to sometimes. he needs to flooowwwwwww

BTW- i agree with that other guy above about the southern twang. he always benefits from having that.

krazy is lyrically good, it just musically sucks
"Armed and dangerous, rich and famous, young and restless
                        Guns and stretchers
                        Cristal and dubs for breakfast
I just got one suggestion - none should test him
'Cause cuz get hectic; send one through your sons intestines
Glocks knock lungs from chests, you get the portrait?
Bodies piled up on porches, it won't be gorgeous"
