everything else was average and below imo but to each their own

Lil wayne is Lil wayne (no COMPARISION)
FB status updates and tweets with clever quotes came from lil weezy's songs
his one liners lyrics defined peoples lives for years
lil wayne swipped and had all the fans of hip hop when he was in his prime (when every song was a hit)
people were listening to no one else other than him and his label
now other artists are swiping and has parts of lil wayne fan base

All I m trying to say is when we were listening to wayne we were only listening to wayne most of the time or most of our playlist filled with weezy songs
      after the jail
fans moved to drake lil bit
and as the days passed other new artists are sharing lil wayne fans
till this day 80% of my playlist is weezy

I disagree. Wayne is one of the most, if not THE most, entertaining rappers in the game. In fact, I can't think of anyone I can get more joy out of listening to when he is spitting in his prime. Jay-Z is my favourite rapper, and Buck 65 and Eminem are in my top 5, but none of them holds a candle to Wayne's free-form insanity when he pops off.

I was listening to the C3 sessions, and No Ceilings, and his flow, his lyrics, everything was just insane. My mum was in the car and she said 'how can you listen to this?', just after he says 'Stuff that girl with dick till her head burst". Those kind of lines are just insane, it's like nothing I'd ever think of in my wildest creative moments. HNHH posted on Facebook a picture of Wayne and asked people to list the worst punchlines of all time. 90% of commenters were quoting Wayne. He's had some truly terrible lines 'had a phone in jail, that's a cell phone', but even when he says that shit, you still rewind it and re-listen.

I want to know, do you distinguish between rappers who entertain you and those who are 'the best'? I posted my top 15 rappers of all time, and Wayne came in 15th. But for rappers I listen to on a daily basis, Jay is number one, Wayne is number 2.
              age is a big issue

younger people will call wayne the best

older people will cal people like jay, em, nas, biggie, 2pac, etc the best

I think there are 3 distinct eras. Those who say NWA, Rakim, Public Enemy, Big Daddy Kane, etc etc are the best. Those that say Em Nas Jay Pac Biggie are the best, then those that say Wayne Kanye Cole Kendrick etc etc are the best.

in that sense its different to rock music, where the Beatles are the best, and there are about 20 bands that are generally held as being the best of all time, regardless of generation (Nirvana, Bowie, RHCP, U2, Coldplay, Arcade Fire, The Who, Pink Floyd, Beach Boys etc)
