Warning: long post for the patient only!

I really hope wayne critics and fans give wayne credit for all he did with sftw2, because he really really delivered this time around... And it's been a long time since that could be said. It's almost as if he researched the complaints people had about the last several releases and fixed all of it, but still on his terms.

1- He keeps the guest list down to a minimum, allowing total focus on wayne. First guests don't even appear until track 5. Perfect set up.

2- he doesn't put too few songs like sftw1, but doesn't overcrowd it with songs like d5 either. It's almost as if he used no ceilings as a blueprint for this.

3- he opens with a chill but fierce mission statement, then gives a 1-2-3 punch of sh!t, trap house and selsun blue, coming out of the gate on fire. Top energy. That triple punch reminds of the beginning of d4, but with much better lyrics.

4- he isn't afraid to experiment with his styles and flow on this tape. U got your high energy opening section, then u got no type, the coolest syrup ballad since me and my drank. The middle section of the tape is more modern flow and beat choices (makonnen, shmurda, drunk in love, etc.) Then the final third is old weezy style. Listen to the flow from trk 11 onward. It's like no ceilings, even earlier. Then it closes with dreams and nightmares, which comes full circle and ends with the energy of the beginning of the tape (shit, trap, etc)

5- he has finally gotten his shitty lyric radar corrected. Sure there are a few clunkers and cringe worthy lines, but that's par for the course in any wayne project ever. Lol. It's like the quality of his 2014 verses finally grew into a project proper. U can tell most of this tape was lyrically crafted to land almost every bar with maximum impact.

In the end, haters will still hate, but I feel this is a true achievement for wayne. It shows he can still be "old weezy" when he wants, but more importantly, he has learned to use his new styles in dope ways. It's like he finally found a comfort zone where all shades of wayne can exist in top quality. This is the first wayne project in 5-6 years that I can actually throw on to demonstrate Wayne's real skill to nonbelievers. It really stands up with some of his best work.

i dont disagree, but the lack of credit being given to d5 as a foundation for his current level in his lyricism, just blows me away.

compare performances from 2009 post no ceilings to 2013 pre d5, to everything afterwards. hes been trending upward for over a year already.

100 on this tape feeling more like NC, darker, edgier, and more cohesive tho.

I'm just glad wayne shut up all the doubters.

It's Tunechi Homie, Master Of Ceremonies.

the real weezy fans know all this anyway homey which is what will matter the most to weezy.

these bloggers and reviewers are not listening to the mixtape like they should be.

Yes D5 definitely laid the ground work for this tape, but it's also far from this caliber. D5 still had empty moments and clunkers like new slaves and so on, but point is: dope tape

pretty much fully agree with op. Hopefully the Birman beef decreases the chances of mainstream songs on c5
