I just mean you can't compare Wayne with Lupe's new project, or joeys, which so many people do. A punchline rapper just comes up with intelligent, funny similes and metaphors a lot. Whereas lupe raps about government and existential crises

i dont see why you couldnt. i think its downplaying wayne a lot by reducing his style to just punchlines. if anything, i think its the other way around.

wayne is at level, and has been, (might even be the most significant marker of his genius) where he presents such complete ideas one after another.. that are constantly triple layered in wordplay, context, and reference.

its as much depth in waynes writing as anybody else. just gotta be aware of all thats being presented. lol he doesnt help tho.. he moves at 3 to 1 speed. its incrediblee

DUde, I've been thinking the same thing. Wayne makes no apologies or dumbs down his flow. It makes it hard for a lot to catch whats going on so they just say its "simple"

What comes easy, won't Last. What Lasts won't come easy.

Sometimes he carries entire themes through verses and people never pick up on it cause all they hear is the punchline

this is actually a huge deal. especially w hollyweezy. the songs so big, and the content is so specific.. it becomes lil wayne playing lil wayne. and every song, could be seen thru that lens.

they arent so much verses.. but scripts. hes performing lil wayne, the persona.. all over the tape.

i got the same sense when i seen him live.. the show stopped but wayne didnt..

and hes aware of it too.. "ima movie muthfcka cameraman are you gettn this' i dont rap.. i film movies...

im pretty sure waynes got some synesthetic thing.. w words, images, and sounds, where they all arrive to him at once.

ive pretty much arrived at the conclusion that hes transcended the zeitgeist. his talent has actually outlasted his relevancy. its tim duncan winning a title in 3 decades.. hes influenced everyone, and outlived his usefullness for the masses.. but hes still as good as ever.

its remarkable, and a little sad. think hes the first one like that in hiphop. only other guy i can think of is rakim.

            I can't tell if you're serious or..

If you are serious, you need to read decoded by Jay z. He devotes an entire chapter to this very theme mate.

                  good read homey.

i don't agree with everything you said though.

but it's one of the better reviews i have seen for this mixtape.
