  • wayne hating in the press

this is from pitchfork review of new big sean album:

Put online in September along with three other tracks, the song is an obvious banger with an instantly catchy hook and some truly great lines—"I just bought a crib, three stories, that bitch a trilogy"

WTF?!?!?! now i KNOW people just wayne hating for the sake of it. that is just a terrible line on every level - can you imagine how much people would make fun of wayne if he said that?

Same shit with some critical responses to 2 chainz on "preach" from s4tw2 - critics saying 2 chainz's clever wordplay outshined wayne on his own track! WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?! "i eat so much benihana i need num-chucks!" first of all it's NUN, not num you dumb nigga! but furthermore, the line itself doesn't make any sense like most of his lines!!!

these rappers just do bad wayne impressions basically and they get praised for it. meanwhile wayne could drop an absolute fire verse and critics will say it was crap. i swear it's like a "let's hate wayne" conspiracy! lol

during IANAHB2 days i totally understood jumping on his for that shit - but these days wayne is on his fucking shit again! people need to wake up - wayne is back and not enough people recognizing that fact

Big Sean been copying Lil Wayne's lyrics for a while now but just changing them around

I can't think of them off by heart right now when when I heard his new album I heard at least 2 lines I know he got from Wayne =/

Edit here is one on Blessings that we all know he took from Wayne's 'Levels' freestyle:-

"I guess when your stars align, you do like the solar system and plan it out"

meh. remember: their press helped make wayne as legendary as he was amongst the huge hipster crowd when he was on his 2000s mixtape run. C4 and IANAHB2 turned them into haters (understandably) but what pisses me off is how they can't undo the hate now, and they praise people who be copping wayne's styles and lines but doing it poorly!

        that shit makes me sick.

ps- don't hate on white folks! we all need to stop the bad blood.

Don't see how the big Sean review was against Wayne tbh.. At all.

Don't ever take pitchforks seriously that's your first mistake

His point was that other rappers get passes and praise for bars that Wayne would get criticized about.

Like how you think "when I met codeine it was love at first Sprite" is corny. Press prolly thought the same thing.

if he'd said that in a syrup stupor in 2007 the press would've loved it. lol.

since wayne stopped yapping about his dick for a minute he has gotten GOOD AGAIN. i think he'll keep it up. wish more of the press was on board, but he def got some love for s4tw2.

the game changes though. i remember when c3 was blowing up and ppl online were saying "fuck wayne, that aint real rap! listen to old jay z and nas blah blah" everything new sounds crazy at first, and the turnaround of rappers - their shelf life - is mad short.

they become irrelevant in the mainstream so quickly. take wayne: people will latch onto their favorite song or style from those peak years and hold him to that standard forever. everyone loves a different wayne. that's one of the funniest things about reading wayne reviews sometimes... one man's corny line is another man's golden line.
