dedication 5 had more enjoyable songs imo. more replay value. in 10 years am i gonna be listening to "birdman jr more like ugly duckling" probably from time to time but ill be more likely to play cream or levels in 10 years.

d5 was important because it was wayne trying again, but he still hadn't gotten his groove fully back (ironically thanks to lines like: "I got it back like groovy Stella" eeech, that one still makes me shudder). new slaves was a fucking embarrassment and a total waste of a beat he would've destroyed back in the day. on songs like pure Colombia wayne sounded like he wanted to be good again, but the lyrics just weren't there and the flow was weird. on the other hand though he REALLY started to show his potential again on songs like CREAM, you song, fuckin problems, levels and a few others. One of the things the good songs all have in common is the fact that the beats were more in Wayne's comfort zone. I always said that too. I always said that the big wayne problem had less to do with him falling off and more to do with him not knowing what the fuck to do with his words on modern trap style beats! he was trying too hard to rap like meek or big sean because those niggas was popular. even though wayne inspired THEM he took inspiration back from them, which spoiled so much of everything. tape was way too long for what it was also. shit was mostly due to shitty features all over the damn place

on SFTW2 wayne officially got his original spirit back. it was the first realization of his talent after a year of dope features and good singles. it was more like an album than a mixtape and it showed off all of his talents and different flows... and they're all sequenced accordingly. Basically there are three parts to that tape: the fast ferocious weezy, the modern flow weezy, the old school dope weezy. and then the tape ends with dreams and nightmares which sounds like it belongs in the first third, but makes a dope outro. brings the whole project back to the beginning and ties that bitch up in a nice bow.

SFTW2 was overall a better project. But D5 had Levels, Cream, Still Got the Rock, Type of Way... a lot of sick ass songs that are as good as any on SFTW2.

nah. I overplayed them both when they were released.

I feel like I would have enjoyed D5 a whole lot more if it was properly mastered. My vote is for S4TW2.
