Now at least he is making songs you can show your homies when they ask what’s the big deal with lil wayne

          the song is fucking amazing

their synergy together is dope and Wayne's flow was impeccable

          lines weren't bad neither

real enjoyable song, and i preferred his voice on that track like that. he needed to sound energetic and not raspy so it fit perfectly.

oh and Living Right literally is pure '08 Wayne

flow, voice, lyrics, delivery, even an '08 styled hook kinda. it was amazing

I think Wayne has actually made trash music (may tracks off C4 and IANAHB2 come to mind and much of D4-5 too). But it's always exciting when they come out...then they just don't age well and I later realize why that is. SFTW2 and FWA are aging well though, and that is because the music is solid and wayne is rapping right and rapping more like he used to now...more like he gives a shit... and he is not as fixated on childish "look at my dick" type material every other bar. that shit IS garbage. sorry.

Regarding media and kanye/jay-z, that’s not true in my case. I think Jay-Z is still making decent music, but certainly not great. I also think Kanye’s Dark Twisted Fantasy and Yeezus are not only good, but they’re flat out genius. I think this not because of what the media does or doesn’t say, but because Kanye is a fucking brilliant musician. He did things on those two albums that were just plain too creative for a lot of people to get on board with. I love his first three albums and even 808s was pretty awesome in how influential it became, but his two most recent albums are on another level. Dark Twisted Fantasy is one of the greatest hip hop albums every made IMO – and Yeezus is a work of mad brilliance. But bear in mind, these opinions are coming from someone who enjoys a lot of other shit besides rap. I am into pretty much everything and I dig experimental music and boundary pushing (when done properly).

Think about Kanye’s bars on Dark Fantasy… they were on another level of good. Graduation was his lyrical low point IMO. Dark Fantasy his high point.

And as for Yeezus: that came out the same year as IANAHB2.. let’s be honest, who was rapping better – wayne of kanye? The answer is Kanye. He was delivering socially conscious raps with clever wordplay and dope observations about life and sex… but he was doing it so clever. Wayne totally embarrassed himself on IANAHB2 (same year) with songs like Back to You, No Worries, Rich as Fuck, Wowzerz, Days, etc. His raps were completely empty and meaningless – it was like reading shit that a horny 13 year old boy wrote, with roughly the same intellect level too!

Look at it this way: kanye’s new slaves or wayne’s new slaves. Who do you think is delivering better lyrics to that song? Now, if wayne tried that song again TODAY – different story maybe. Wayne is now rapping better than nearly everyone. FWA is a weezy classic IMO. I hold Wayne to a higher standard I guess. I know what he’s capable of. Now when I hear post bail ballin or living right or glory I know I’m hearing something truly dope. First time since C3/NC that a whole album/mixtape has been listenable without any major embarrassment (except maybe Thinking Bout You – that has some pretty weak bars… and I shouldn’t have to “be from New Orleans” to know what that song is about, as some have said. Fuck that, I know rap and that ain’t very good rap.)

lol except kanye didnt write new slaves.. soooo

and there is definite value to being from new orleans, or having an appreciation for bounce music when it comes to thinking about you.. its an entire sound and style that comes from a certain place and time..

                          https://soundcloud.com/levins/cash-money-bounce-mix

listening to this old mix actually has made me realised how dope waynes really new orleans bounce style tracks are.. its crazy how well hes got the style down.. i mean.. it effectively sounds almost exactly the sname.. the flows.. the language.. waynes like a new orleans bounce historian when he raps on this shit.

lol also kinda funny, how both bounce tracks on d5 and fwa are called thinkin bout you.. definitely lends itself to that nostalgia..
