The fact is that the next generation is going to be much smarter than this one, or any previous. As it always is. You're saying its getting worse - it's not. Every generation says that about the last one, and if you're actually apart of this generation and you say that, you're likely a bit more ostracized than most people considering your individual use of internet(don't mean to offend). The majority of every generation is stupid and indulgent, though this is not necessarily bad, that's just how it is. The internet and technology make it easier to see but every older person will tell you back in the day they thought of the next generation the same way.

Edit: Back on topic, think of the Wayne they've been shown in the past few years. Complete garbage, with some fire here and there but mostly garbage. When they here that kind of trash, why would they want to delve deeper into an artist, and thus listen to his old, good shit? They wouldn't.
