No Ceilings 2 in 16 days..... Never thought I would be saying that.

People are truly underestimating this. Where is the hype? NO CEILINGS 2!

That all the retweets FWA and S4TW2 had put together
Maybe it's just my hype then.... I actually think I'm just desensitised to Wayne giving us free projects. We got 3 this year.... When has that ever happened?

Don't let twitter hype fool you. Future has the hype > Wayne on twitter but it doesn't correlate with the numbers. S4TW2 on HotNewHipHop has 520k downloads and is ranked as the #1 most successful mixtape on the site of all time. S4TW2 on DatPiff has 1 million downloads. Future's last 3 mixtapes (Monster, Beast Mode, 56 Nights) have a combined 1.1 million downloads on DatPiff and a combined 560k downloads on HotNewHipHop.

I'm talking more in terms of on here I guess. I'm not on twitter anymore. Haha. I know people will download it but usually we get 30 threads about "Make a NC2 tracklist" or " What features do you wanna see" threads. Right now I feel like nobody is going HAM over it like I would expect.

Only reason I'm not going HAM is I don't want to be disappointed bc of expecting too much

U Guessed It has no replay value???

And songs on NC does? Compared to U Guessed It? Do you understand the shit he was sayin' in that song? How's Swag Surfin' have more replay value than that? I don't get it.

What did you people listen to?

On S4TW2 Wayne had a clear direction. Whether you liked it or not is one thing, but he wasn't just spittin' out a bunch of random subpar shit on S4TW2 like he did on a lot of NC with a lot of wack ass features. Yeah, he hit his usual topics but he had an overall direction.

For every bar you may wanna deem wack on S4TW2 there's like 3 on NC.

I'd rather listen to D3(Wayne Only) than NC.

NC was random as shit to me when I first heard it and the bars didn't fuck me up like they did on DD3 and S4TW2.

NC is straight, but not it ain't up there for a nigga.

EDIT: Hot Nigga IS trash tho. I hate Hot Nigga, Drunk in Love, and Alphabet(I just hate Tuesday). Selsun Blue is the shit, tho.
I wasn't comparing s4tw2 with NC, just saying in my opinion most of s4tw2 was hot garbage, I haven't played it since it dropped. NC to me is timeless.. Swag Surf, Ice Cream, D.O.A, Watch My Shoes, Banned From TV, Run This Town... also, Single is one of my fav wayne songs oat.

Guess we have very different opinions of both tapes.

                • I think NC2 is gonna be a 6.5-7/10. Wayne...as much as we all want him to..just doesn't seem capable of dropping a game-changer anymore. He still has bars, but as long as all that autotune makes him sound like he's crying in every song, it's hard to put up with that shit. I can't even physically listen to SFTW2 anymore regardless of how good the lyrics were because I'd rather just hear nails on a chalkboard. Wayne has all the tools but if he can just get rid of that fucking "T-Pain My Voice" app in his studio his songs would have replay value.

                    FWA wasn't that way though.

Honestly if I rated his projects over the last few years 10 being the general consensus of D2 DD3 & C2 I would say

                    NC- 8.5
                    IANAHB- 6.5
REBIRTH- 6 (Hit or miss album)
                    S4TW- 6.5
C4 - 7.5 (Rating it for content.. I still love this album)
D4- 6 (Remove all the pussy talk and it gets a 7)
                    IANAHB2- 5 (Low Point)
D5- 7 (Lots of good songs but too many throw aways imo)
S4TW2- 8 (Not quite NC but heading the right direction)
FWA - 8.25 (Awesome album that left me wanting more)

I predict NC2 will be back in that 8.5 slot with the first NC. Clean up some vocals and stray away from constant pussy talk and it MAY just MAY get a 9 from me. I've liked every project more and more since D5. Not to mention how many features he has hit out of the park this year...

I loved FWA. It's probably my 3rd fave Wayne album behind C1 (Which tbh is the GOAT wayne album imo) and C3. But after hearing Back to Back.. its the same Wayne with no change. Endless metaphors but an overused flow, and no consistency at all on the lyrics. Gotti was a classic song. D'usse was a classic song. He hasn't dropped something like that in a minute now. If No Ceilings 2 has a central theme like "Yo this is my return to the top of the game and I'm about to tell you why" rather than one song about pussy and another about cocaine and another about murder... It's just another mixtape that'll be overhyped at release but won't have replay value.

C1 is my all time favorite too. I only have FWA up there because I was hyped when it dropped not gonna lie. Haha But in my opinion Moment was the best song Wayne has dropped in years. I like hype Wayne though too.... I agree he needs a cohesive project to gain some of his credibility back though.

                        • Honestly...I hate to say it, but Wayne is just never gonna return to the top of the game. Today's rap game is basically hot catchphrases on trap beats. If Wayne reduces himself to copying that and trying to stay relevant, us as fans will not appreciate it. If he tries to please us as fans, then the average hip hop listener isn't going to like Wayne. Wayne's stuck in between changing with the times or pleasing his fans, and it's hard to do both if all the big artists these days are just copying his original style. Wayne's time as the king of rap is over, and its never coming back. The best he can do now is focus on giving us loyal fans what we want. He's not gonna sell 1 mil a week anymore. Probably not even 500K. So at this point, he just needs to forget the money and the popularity and work towards improving his legacy by going out on a good note. No Ceilings 2 is not going to be an influential mixtape. But at the very least, I hope it's a sign of a Lil Wayne who knows his time is coming to an end, but he delivers a solid project that we all want as fans: no autotune, no features, no hooks. Just purely killing every beat. Kinda sad writing all this bc Wayne never got the credit he deserves, but its time for us as fans to realize he's no longer in the race and we should just enjoy the music for what it is. The hype is still real tho
