Rebirth is an essential album that really pushed what we expect from rappers and what they are capable of in the height of his career Wayne decided that instead of producing a rap album that would be an almost guaranteed success he would challenge himself and make something unique and innovative and so came about this "rock album" I've said it before this is so much more then a just a sad attempt at "rock" this was Wayne using and pushing auto-tune to new heights that we hadn't experienced in hip-hop before (besides by Kanye West on 808's)
if you listen to Rebirth Sessions you can see the sounds the dude was hitting were just next level and out worldly the production was unique this reinforced that Wayne isn't just a rapper but probably one of the most important artists in this generation. It was sadly overshadowed and hated on because of him framing it as a "rock album" even though the original title was the "Rebirth of Autotune" which i think is more fitting this album did rebirth autotune in ways we can't even grasp.
so here i present in my opinion one of the most under appreciated and underrated gems in Wayne career
this song alone sounds like Young Thug, Lil Uzi ETC. the way he pushes the human voice and expresses raw emotion with the assistance of autotune is both innovative and insanely creative it twisted and entirely shifted the dynamic of Hip-Hop as we know it is insanely over looked i dont understand why
not focusing on lyrics are we going to act like this song isn't one of the most ambitious tracks in hip-hop?? the use of voice effects again to express emotion as pure as possible is incredible wayne has one of the best voices in music purely because of the places it can hit that no other artist could hope to hit its alien next worldly and can captivate you in hundreds of ways
i know this is a fan favourite around the forum and i agree this is wayne pushing the limits yet again a notable stand out track on the album
On Fire underrated this is wayne practically birthing "mumble rap" as a concept this dude proved on this song alone that sounds, voice inflections and melodies can produce more messages then words can in music
Songs that weren't on the actual album but are important to note
