  • Rebirth is one of the most important albums EVER

Rebirth is an essential album that really pushed what we expect from rappers and what they are capable of in the height of his career Wayne decided that instead of producing a rap album that would be an almost guaranteed success he would challenge himself and make something unique and innovative and so came about this "rock album" I've said it before this is so much more then a just a sad attempt at "rock" this was Wayne using and pushing auto-tune to new heights that we hadn't experienced in hip-hop before (besides by Kanye West on 808's)

if you listen to Rebirth Sessions you can see the sounds the dude was hitting were just next level and out worldly the production was unique this reinforced that Wayne isn't just a rapper but probably one of the most important artists in this generation. It was sadly overshadowed and hated on because of him framing it as a "rock album" even though the original title was the "Rebirth of Autotune" which i think is more fitting this album did rebirth autotune in ways we can't even grasp.

so here i present in my opinion one of the most under appreciated and underrated gems in Wayne career

this song alone sounds like Young Thug, Lil Uzi ETC. the way he pushes the human voice and expresses raw emotion with the assistance of autotune is both innovative and insanely creative it twisted and entirely shifted the dynamic of Hip-Hop as we know it is insanely over looked i dont understand why

not focusing on lyrics are we going to act like this song isn't one of the most ambitious tracks in hip-hop?? the use of voice effects again to express emotion as pure as possible is incredible wayne has one of the best voices in music purely because of the places it can hit that no other artist could hope to hit its alien next worldly and can captivate you in hundreds of ways

i know this is a fan favourite around the forum and i agree this is wayne pushing the limits yet again a notable stand out track on the album

On Fire underrated this is wayne practically birthing "mumble rap" as a concept this dude proved on this song alone that sounds, voice inflections and melodies can produce more messages then words can in music

Songs that weren't on the actual album but are important to note

I agree. Rebirth is a dope album to me. When I first heard Wayne was gonna make a rock album called Rebirth I was thinking wtf? But I heard leaks when they was leaked and the album came out and I loved it. I talked to a few Wayne fans and they hate it. I don't understand Y. It is different. But so what? Wayne lyrically on some of the songs was a different Wayne. He was more emotional and deep on this album. Drop The World has my favorite saying on there. Confidence is a stain they cant wipe off. That really did and does a lot for me. I even have the songs that didn't make Rebirth. Fuck Today, Lookout. Ready For The world etc. Just real songs. I really don't get how people don't like it. Maybe its cause I hear things a lot of people don't and I pay attention and im different. Like Wayne is different.
They can do all they can do but they cant break unbreakable. They scared to face the truth cause they hate the view.

It also didn't help with him going to jail around the release

                      come on fam

It started with T-Pain but once Kanye dropped 808's & Heartbreak it birthed a new generation into rap music Rebirth is a product of that resurgence (Wayne himself said that around the 808'S HEARTBREAK>Rebirth Era) rappers challenged norms and Wayne & Kanye were at the fore-front all the autotune songs Wayne made lead up to and built up the Rebirth era, Rebirth was a statement and showed that Wayne wasn't going to restrict himself to a certain lane or sound.

as i mentioned the use of melodies on autotune with voice inflections and not normal singing wasn't seen anywhere else besides on Rebirth and 808's & Heartbreak they brought about a new sound to the genre prior to Ye and Wayne autotune was seen as a lame gimmick used by pop-stars and not as a tool that could really make some creative music + express emotion in a new capacity Kanye spoke on this and i believe Wayne touched on it Rebirth is a very underrated album it sadly was poorly marketed and as usual with Wayne albums the right songs didnt get picked for the tracklisting i mean Hot Revolver & Ready 4 the World not making the cut was a bit retarded.

literally 80% of what comes out now is drenched in autotune and you can look at it in two ways you could see it as Rebirth and the rest destroying the fundamentals of hip-hop which you would have an argument or you could see it as birthing a new creative landscape that helped propel the genre to being one of the highest selling and profitable genres in music ever Future, Young Thug, Lil Uzi, Travis Scott all those guys are birthed straight from the sounds seen in Rebirth & 808's
