there's no need to compare the same man. I guess every piece of work is unique for him , it symbolises his state of mind at that time etc. At the end of the day , he's Lil Wayne , either you're listening to Tha Block Is Hot or D6R , or even Da Drought 3. Maybe he has more...freedom when doing a Mixtape , but can someone say for certain "I prefer ALL weezy tapes over his albums" and vice versa? I doubt that!

I was thinking about this lately too. And my conclusion is that from day 1 I thought C5 was better than D6/D6R which is saying a lot because I love dedication 6. But I think C5 is just better on all fronts. As I was listening to carter 5 the first time , something took over me around the time of Uproar and Let it fly.. I began to realize that there was not going to be a misstep (for my tastes anyway) for the remainder of the project. I thought: too many people are making sure this is perfectly executed right down to the slick production, plus Wayne was obviously in top form — high off that D6 vibe still.
Now heres the crazy thought: it used to be all about mixtape weezy, but right now I think the real strength might be album weezy!! The energy and skill of D6, but with the editorial desire to fix cheesy lines and weak moments under the pressure of C5’s weight. Honestly it was so refreshing to hear Wayne get serious without being too corny, if at all, and also be playful and thuggish as fuck too. C5 just struck a sick balance.
D6 dope too tho. Don’t get it twisted

C5 definitely better, but D6 was fucking RETARDED. He rhymed himself stupid on that shit. He was breathless and bursting with lyrical ideas.. just how most of us like Wayne. He throws so much shit against the wall — however much sticks determines the worth of any given Wayne tape. Lol
but it annoys me how people I know who are never normally into Wayne anymore , along with critics and the media, all think C5 just suddenly happened out of thin air. No! This was the natural progression from D6, lyrically and flow wise. Dedication 6 was the final stop before C5’s dope style. It’s like Wayne needed those 35 tracks to rehearse and perfect what he needed to do for C5. Only us true fans know that.Comment

Loved them both but at the end of the day C5 had wayyy higher highs and D6 had wayyy lower lows.

Nah. I love D6/6R but C5 is better. I had a post on here right after C5 came out basically saying the opposite. Obviously “mixtape weezy” is still dope, but for the first time ever “album weezy” might be the way forward. Personally, I’m not into 75% dope lyrics /25% cringe. I’m not into flat out clunkers that I skip altogether. C5 proved that Wayne could do it all the way through. Yes ppl like to skip Dark Side (I don’t) but it’s still a dope song for what it is.
Even famous , home to the absolute worst lyric on C5 (and one of the only bad lyrics on C5) is a good song with some classic bars.
