  • Young Money/RIAA Got To Update Wayne's Sales...

So I was on RIAA's site looking at Wayne's album Platinum and Gold certification's and was surprised to find that only C2-5 and Tha Block Is Hot are certified platinum. I think it is safe to say alot of these certifications are outdated. For example, in November 05, Tha Carter was at 880K sales. I'm sure it has attained the 120K sales needed for platinum status in the last 13 years. As of Sept 2011, Rebirth was at 775K and IANAHB was at 950K. I'm sure in the last 7 years IANAHB has hit a million, and it is likely Rebirth has also. Tha Carter III was certified 3x Platinum in Feb 2009 - 10 years ago. It must have sold atleast 1 million more copies in the last 10 years, making it 4x platinum eligible. IANAHB2 is only certified Gold, but the 1766th post of this thread estimates that it has 1Mil+ SPS sales as of Feb 2018. This would make it eligible for Platinum certification. (The site also estimates IANAHB and Rebirth as platinum, and C4 as almost 4x platinum with SPS). I think we should push Mack as a group to get his paperwork right to get all these albums the certification's they deserve

Tha Block is hot - eligible for at least 2x platinum (As of 2012 sold 2.1 million in the US)
Lights Out - Certified Gold (Cant find anything else)
500 Degreez - Certified Gold (As of 2011 sold 584,179 in the US)
Tha Carter - Eligible for at least 2x platinum (As of 2017 sold 2.3 million in the US)
Tha Carter 2 - Eligible for at least 2x platinum (As of December 2006 sold 1.9 million)
Like Father Like son - Certified Gold (As of July 2007 sold 761,958 copies in the US)
Tha Carter 3 - Eligible for at least 4x platinum (Certified 3x platinum)
Rebirth - Certified Gold (Sold over 775k in US) (probably platinum)
IANAHB - Eligible for at least platinum
Tha Carter IV - Certified 2x platinum (Probably higher)
IANAHB 2 - Certified Gold (Probably higher)
Tha Carter 5 - Certified Platinum

I feel like some of the singles should be certified higher as well for example there is no way love me and right above it are only 2x platinum... Also do you add the single certifications on top of the album sales I saw Tha Carter III s eligible for 5x platinum but it didnt make sense to me.

Also do you add the single certifications on top of the album sales I saw Tha Carter V is eligible for 5x platinum but it didnt make sense to me.
where did you see c5 is 5x plat really doubt that, but with sps yeah streams and song sales do count, i think 10 songs sold as singles count as an album sold. For example, Lollipop is 5x platinum, but with the new calculation method, that would (I think) give TC3 500k equivalent units sold. 5mil / 10

                  - - - Updated - - -

Also with track equivalent albums (TEA), IANAHB2 is definitley platinum. Last i heard, it sold 600K+ units on its own. Aditoonally, My Homies Still and RAF are platinum, and Love Me is 2x platinum. Thats 4 mil singles sold. 4mil / 10 = 400k. 600k alhums + 400k TEA = 1mil units

drake’s scorpion was eligible for platinum day of release because the 2 singles (gods plan and nice for what) accumulated 10m streams. 10m /10 = 1mil Track equivalent albums (TEA). The same applies for wayne, where the 4mil single sales of IANAHB2 would accumulate for 0.4M TEA, + the 0.6K it sold.

as for c5 being 5x platinum, with single sales and stewams seems probable

With scorpion those were sales were from before the album was released. You dont know how much the singles from IANAHB2 sold prior to the album release. thats why I dont think you can just add the certifications on top of the album sales
