Hurricane Season (originally titled Patriots) is an upcoming sports drama directed by Tim Story, and starring Forest Whitaker, Eric Hill, Taraji P. Henson, Lil Wayne, Bow Wow and Joshua "Beezy" Byers. The screenplay was written by Robert Eisele and the film was produced by Raymond Brothers and Scott Glassgold. The movie was released on DVD on December 8th, 2009. The film was rated PG-13 for brief sexual humor.
Tulane University's Fogelman Arena was one of the filming locations. Rampart Community Center's gym doubled as an evacuation center in Arkansas. The Community Center not only provides after school activities for the community east of the French Quarter in New Orleans, but as a volunteer center for those who still provide hurricane relief and rebuilding. Also, the film was shot in the gym of Chalmette High School, located in Chalmette near the New Orleans area, and it includes many of the students attending as extras.
Plot
A year after Hurricane Katrina, Al Collins (Forest Whitaker), a high school basketball coach in Marrero, Louisiana, assembles a team of players who had previously attended five different schools before the disaster and leads them on the path to the state championships.
