i listen to songs from the OG C2 very often.
did you notice that most of the songs are very chill and laid back, like - fresh`s blessings, do what u do, get real gangsta, that somebody, laced up, hood rich, be me, long time coming

Well Fresh's Blessing to me is up there as one of his best songs period so I hold a bias to that one lmao. But yeah you're right, I never notice how soul-driven the OG C2 was. Those horns that open up Hood Rich are nice af. Maybe that's why when Fresh left he still stuck with the more soulful production style, he wanted C2 to be a soulful album.
