And he still does what he does best better than anybody. It isn’t broke yet so why fix it. I think his most mature work is everything from the Carter II era including the sessions. He honestly just doesn’t sound like tht vocally anymore. It was deeper back then which allowed for a mature sound to match mature lyrics.
He’s still the best love song maker on the business tho not even a debate and he definitely has shown growth in tht department
Deep Sleep showed he is still as nasty as ever as a lyricist and no one in the rap game can fuck with that.
Sht tht Dj Drama intro showed a modified aggressive Wayne which tbh is an updated C2 Wayne
And he’s right. When u look at his whole body of work years from now his new stuff is definitely making his body of work sound more complete. The highlights from the past 5 years definitely add to his goat resume

Pick up Your Heart
Street Chains
Light Years
I’m Nice
Mona Lisa
You Song
Cream

Weak
Deep Sleep

XO Tour Life
Uproar

All have upgraded his resume
It’s a few decent ones in there that of course up Wayne fans love. But to the masses, they could care less about Deep Sleep, Weak, Light years, Cream and a bunch of others on here. These songs have been out and ppl Still say Wayne ain’t been good since Carter 4 ........
Your most mature context can’t be back when your 23 years old! It’s was it Wayne’s whole career is backwards! They reason of his peers aren’t at there peak anymore! But the maturity in there lyrics and content AND PRODUCTION makes up for it! Wayne’s production is terrible! On a better beat songs like Pick up your heart would be much better and would have picked up more traction.
Let it fly isn’t maturity, it picked up no traction! It’s just him rhyming 1 more the whole damn song! Yea it’s cool or whatever but for the ppl that’s been with Wayne since day 1, We’ve grown old to all of that!
He’s gotta step up his content man. He’s almost 40
And lord please give this man better beats

Sales have been discussed over and over on here and C5 clearly did numbers. But that's not even what this thread is about.
Whenever people here want to argue that Wayne isn't as good as he used to be they stop actually talking about his actual rapping ability and start talking about "traction" or "the perception of the masses" and sales... and still make no sense.Last edited by KnockMeOut; 08-01-2019, 08:07 AM.

but I do believe they upgraded his resume. He’s showed things he could do since 2013 that he couldn’t do in his primeLast edited by jhoya101; 08-01-2019, 10:38 PM.

That’s not disrespectful that’s just his lack of growth! He’s still stuck in the If it’s not broke don’t fix it mind frame! But what he’s failing to realize that it is broke!
He’s losing his core fan base one by one! Most of his day 1 fans aren’t around and can’t endure to listen to him spit these immature kiddie bars!
He lost a chunk of his fans with the rock shit
He lost a chunk with the skate/pussy ever other line shit
Now most of his fans only give him the benefit of the doubt because of what he USE TO DO!
If Wayne was a new artist dropping the shit he’s putting out now! He would be the artist he is today!
If this was basketball this would be equivalent to Jordan with the Wizards or Kobe last 3 years with the lakers!
I definitely blame the rock and skateboard Wayne fans for his downfall!
He’s so hit and miss and when he hits nobody really cares but us on Lil Wayne HQ!
if you can really stand here and say Wayne hasn't grown at all looking at his career from 2012 to 2019 i dont know what to say im actually gob smacked of how damn delusional you have to be
waynes rock shit was innovative and birthed a generation only wayne that did damage was the skate/pussy wayne that definitely had an effect but he has CLEARLY grown since then the fact you say he hasn't is redundant
what kiddie bars are you referring to?

"wayne dont rap good no more"
gets shown a list of str8 up bangers/bars
"no body ELSE appreciates this shit so it doesn't matter"
u cant make this up bro these guys reaching for stars tryna make a point that wayne aint a good rapper
"he has to step up his content his almost 40"
i swear you people DID NOT listen to Tha Carter V some of his most metaphorical, poetic, topical bars to date
BREWCITYYM is like a mini joe budden just rehashing those dusty ass old head controversial opinions for a reaction
WAYNE IS A GOAT and continues to prove time and time again why thats the case

The way Wayne has managed to resurrect his career like he did with a brand new fresh sound and some what of a new image still amazes me. This man is the goat and I appreciate him and try to enjoy everything he gives us because we will never have another Legend like him again.
Tbh the main reason I’m going to the Blink 182 x Lil Wayne concert is because I truly don’t know how many tours Wayne will do and I’d like to see him perform one more time before he retires.
hugely mate this is a very very important point the fact wayne is so versatile he can survive in this very very diverse and competitive climate is amazing look at his fellow legends a lot of them have stayed relevant because of everything BUT they music
Wayne has managed to succeed and surpass JUST from rapping imagine if our dude fixed his marketing was managed better etc? unstoppable bro
on top of that lets discuss the comeback point you made
this man was on the verge of career SUICIDE now dont get me wrong in retrospective i can bump IANAHB2 & D4 and fuck with them have a good time with them but a rapper of waynes calibre had not place dropping something like that and because of those projects/features of that era wayne lost a CONSIDERABLE amount of traction then soon after we had the C5 drama any other artist career probably would have been dead and buried by then instead wayne sat in the studio recording and rebirthed and was one of the highest selling of that year next to mega stars like POST MALONE, DRAKE? thats incredible bro especially since u had so many haters thinking he wouldn't get anywhere wild
