  • Does anyone else think C5 stands out from the rest of the series? (emotionally)

The album love it or hate it is part of a legendary series, I enjoy MOST of the songs but from time to time I'll listen to the albums in order and C5 genuinely just has this huge mood change compared to the other 4. All of the albums have dramatic songs, happy songs and sad songs but C5 feels darker and like a cruel/harsh note to end the series on collectively.

C3 was a emotionally self aware album but generally had a happy vibe to it, 4 for the most part did too.

C1 is like a rougher/street version of C3 thematically while C2 is much more street oriented but still a touch of happy vibes/poppy vibes.

C5 is a mixed bag of songs that really leans more on the emotional sad side. There some standout songs that are outliers and happy but even those collectively don't change my vibe from the album when listening through in order.

I'm with ya, I think C5 is pretty dark and personal whether or not you compare it to the others. I appreciate getting this side of him

I agree but I don't think it's really 'dark' like people keep saying. It's more sort of introspective/insightful and mature. Not dark and gloomy. More like coming out of a dark period. Like he's more grounded.

This seems natural, he's bound to have an altered perspective to when he was in his early/mid 20s

C5 is definitely his most dark & matured album in the Carter Series it felt like this album was something he wanted to make & OG C5 probably would’ve been more less darker

What's everyone's definition of mature? technically every single one of his albums were more or less that. Just because he didn't talk about sex for the first time in 5 years doesn't mean it's his most mature.
