I seem to recall that the shooter placed a call to Birdman immediately after the shooting then also went to Wayne's hotel after that phone call...as well as some incriminating calls between the shooter and Birdman while he was in jail. On the other hand I read also that maybe the guy was a lone wolf just trying to impress Birdman. I think he worked for Birdman at the time and don't remember more than that

I am interested to know what others think about this though, I was not on this site at the time

I mean it could very well be to drive publicity also. Look how it gets people up in a tizzy, articles written etc. On the other hand, Wayne does what he wants, and doesn't do what he doesn't want, so I have to assume there is a deliberate choice here and its not just driven by financial or PR desperation
