C5 was dope but I felt like Wayne & his camp wanted to release more catchy songs like Took his time & What About Me instead of creating another C4 type of album that sound like mixtape such as Let it Fly they definitely should’ve put Scottie Pippen & Life of Mr.Carter to please the die hard fans. I think Funeral will have more bangers & Catchy hooks on there especially since he have Lil Baby on there

C4 did sound like a mixtape... a wack ass mixtape. Def captures a time and place though.
Opens with 5 tracks, 4 of which have no hook. Features Wayne spitting over a modified rick ross beat. Features tracks that don’t even have Wayne on it. All hallmarks of the mixtape format!
Too bad the actual mixtape at this time (S4TW) went harder than C4. I’m not one of those people who just hates for attention or for the hell of it.... I genuinely mean that sorry 4 the wait had far better rhyming than C4. To be fair , C4 has 6’7 and a couple others that were lyrically dope. But by and large it was a weak ass album. Shitty production too.

listen to those and tell me this nigga ain’t snapped on C5! Bars all day. All y’alls hate cant change that.
And the best part of C5 is that if you don’t feel like straight fire rhyming you have a whole separate side of Wayne on there who will sing to you, make you think, break your heart and piece it back together with all the tracks I didn’t mention above.
C5 is a masterpiece. OG C5 is dope af and I would’ve welcomed 3-4 of these on the real album (minus a few cringey dick bars) but I wouldn’t have lost ANY of the C5 tracks because even the ones I don’t listen to all the time (problems, demon) serve the greater purpose of the magnum opus that is Tha Carter V.
and btw- if things like reviews and sales mean something to you, rest assured the reason C5 was recognized as a great work unlike everything he’s put out since C3, is because it had drama, maturity, lyrical prowess and HEART. It was a perfect balance of all shades of Wayne ... with nearly every ounce of Waynes worst tics chiseled away by people who listened to us fans, years of bad reviews or public indifference and cared enough to do Wayne’s legacy proper.
ANOTHER POINT:
OG C5 tracks are dope af, but search 2018 C5 with a fine tooth comb and you will NEVER find anything similar to Mute (which sounds like a step above fucking Wowzers) and Just Chill (which is basically garbage). Real C5 was going for something more meaningful. For the record, I would have loved to hear life of mr Carter, Scottie Pippen, holy (glory), if I don’t she’s mine and take it slow all on 2018 official C5. Not replacing anything, but in addition to what’s there already.Last edited by no_tom&jerry; 09-16-2019, 01:10 AM.

i always said that 2018 C5 is the ideal wayne album because he went and did all his styles and topics justice he had a tone and he stuck to it thru the whole project the OG CV songs that made it were all polished and improved on
i think we all agree that songs like SCOTTIE/LOMC should have made the project it would have injected a lot of life into the second half of the official release for certain

Think about all the rave reviews you niggas gave for uproar, let it fly, can’t be broken, official Mona Lisa, hittas, perfect strangers, open safe/letter, let it all work out, and countless others. C5 was a masterpiece and if you listen carefully you hear how all evidence of Wayne’s wack “my dick” lines and his other bad habits were siphoned out for release. The song sequencing is majestic. The personal angle something to behold. Y’all were on YouTube literally fucking crying to his mamas intro and the xxx song. Lol
Now you hear life of mr Carter and Scottie Pippen and you call the real album trash. I always knew those two was gonna be dope. And I admit a lot of the other new stuff is fire — better than I thought it would be. But there’s still some trash here and some cringey struggle bars you didn’t hear a lot on real C5. Even Scottie Pippen (which would’ve fit beautifully on C5) has that one eyed dick line smack in the middle of the song like a lead balloon! Doesn’t ruin it because it’s wayne animal vibes and sometimes the flow is just too dope to break or quibble over the odd bad lyric. But i always admired how most if not all of that was flushed out for the real C5.
I know its exciting that thee have arrived. I also know that I’ll be bumping these all fall. But a handful of dope tracks doesn’t render the official C5 garbage now. This is just short sighted hating. Let’s be real about it. I don’t care how good Life of Mr Carter and Scottie Pippen is.. they’re not better than the almost cinematic scope and care put into Tha Carter V.
Side note: there’s like 5-8 truly fire songs in the leak. I’m loving the whole experience.

It’s only because it’s released after. Say we would’ve gotten OG C5 in 2018 and an album of leaks leaked with Can’t Be Broken, Dedicate, Dope New Gospel, etc. we’d be complaining at Wayne’s team for not releasing these officially

Weezy fam, i will just say honestly my opinion, i already heard OG C5 more than official... just need to fit Dont Cry and Let it work out. And make Problems and Why About me as bonus songs and it will be classic for me
