  • Yo seriously

How the fuck are those new leaks we waited years for actually from IANAHB2? I wouldn’t have believed it if wayne didn’t say it himself on some of the tracks. It’s not even like it’s a little bit better... these songs are light years beyond IANAHB2. Wtf was going on do u think??

Confused about this. I also don’t believe Tez and/or Mack were intentionally tanking his career and legacy. That’s farfetched. Wayne May get bored and disconnected from music sometimes but he’s not a fucking idiot.

Tbh the only theory I can come up with is that Wayne notoriously would discard things that sounded old to him. I remember his explanation for scrapping OG C4’s Dear Anne was “the verses sounded old”. Meanwhile that was far better than anything on released C4. Wayne has often been at his worst when chasing other people’s styles. Maybe he just said fuck those tracks like Light & Kidnap... they sound too old school. What’s weird though is that these must have been done before D4 because IANAHB2 sounds similar to D4... even shares a track or two.

That further reinforces my point, actually. He probably started recording IANAHB2 shortly after C4, but then did D4 in that quasi-Meek Mill style, and suddenly the recorded tracks for IANAHB2 weren’t so interesting anymore (to Wayne). So he took the D4 style further and found rock bottom. What a shame.

At least we got this shit now tho!

I still think it‘s quite possible that the album was kind of a troll album to get him out of the contract quicker.
like there‘S some alright songs on it but some are just so so bad.

But he consistently has lyrics about murdering families, kidnapping babies, sending body parts of dead parents to their children. Are these songs that much more controversial? lol

I guess so. Thought the deal between them an CM was purely distribution. Lets hope UMG never gets bought by Disney lol

And also why did World On My Shoulders not make it? That was easily a top 5 track on IANAHB II if it makes IANAHB II. Completely agree with you, while I want to stay humble and thankful, it is still disappointing when fuego Wayne tracks don’t make it on an album.

Yeah but he said some pretty fucked up shit on human being 2. It still doesn’t explain the absolute 180 in rapping ABILITY that seems to have taken place. Post prison always seemed to me like a downward spiral until 2014. You had sorry for the wait, where he rapped better than C4, where he (mostly) rapped better than D4, where he rapped better than IANAHB2. I mean, it was basically a downward spiral if we’re gonna he totally honest.

Now the overall convo changes if suddenly during 2012-13 we find out he was capable of spittin not just at a SFTW1 level , but a 2009 level.

It almost was like he was trolling everyone. Remember that interview when he said “my shitty new album is coming out” referencing IANAHB2? He was always seeming depressed about music at that time. Way more into skating. So who the fuck knows.

A big thing for Wayne has always been to want to stay relevant compared to what music is like at any given time. He used to shape it with every release (2005-2010) but eventually he was trying to keep up in terms of flow with whatever was popular post prison. Ironically though—and this is still truer than ever—he was trying to sound like the people he birthed!

I also think the beat has a lot to do with his rapping. An old school beat brings out old school Wayne more often than not. But he always goes more for trendy production...which I can understand. Add all this together and it goes right back to what I said originally... shit gets old real quick for Wayne. What sounded good to his ears didn’t always sound good to ours.

                Who knows

Since the "I'm a prisoner and so is my creativity" tweet about C5 and that "this that shit they didn't want me on" line on Glory, plus the "shitty album" comment, I've always thought that Birdman/CM had been pressuring him to put out a certain type of music. Like more pop commercial frivolous rap like we got on IANAHB2 and majority of post jail stuff until FWA.

Oh shit, that’s a great point! And what better way to exact your revenge when your hands are tied? Rap like trash.

That probably annoyed the fuck outta Birdman and crew. Lol.

The one hole in that theory tho... the mixtapes. D4 was better than IANAHB2 but it was very much headed in that direction and Wayne seemed excited to be rapping in his new Meek influenced style.

Hmm maybe it’s a bit of everything

I never liked D4, Wayne even referred to it as "the one that didn't do as well as the rest of em" on D6 lol

I was referring more to albums or stuff they could sell though. But yeah I'm sure it was a combination of things. I feel like Wayne was generally less focused on rapping back then and was putting less effort into it up until 2014 maybe 2013.

This is an interesting theory. I always wondered when was the first signs of Wayne getting fed up with CM because the 2014 tweets was his breaking point. Could’ve started early but Wayne just never said anything.

There is a tweet with Wayne saying he thinks IANAHB2 one of his most lyrical albums lol. Maybe he was talking about the OG this whole time. We know he listens to his unreleased music a lot
