Wtf
This is a snap judgment I admit. I can appreciate the lyricism overall, but WTF. This NC2 auto tune flow is what we been waiting for all this time? My opinions could change over time but right now I’ma say this shit on record:
This actually is the funeral of Wayne for me, because the style most of us old Wayne heads love is officially dead and gone.
There’s enough shit out there sounding like this. Well at least we got C5, which definitely dabbled in new flows, but he did it well balanced and kept the whole project tight and exciting.
From what I’m hearing he is literally mumbling his ass through every track with that slack jaw fucking garbage flow.

Problems my most skipped song on C5 and this album sounds a lot like it with the fast flow and autotune....but I don't hate it this time around cuz the production is amazing and it fits with the motif of the album I think. I really do wish Weezy would slow up on the fast flow and his "yeah yeah yeah yeah" adlib these days but I still like this album a lot

I get what people mean about the mumbling like when it sounds like he's chewing on his cheek but it just seems insignificant and not even that common on this album.

I’m not ungrateful. I’m paying for this shit bruh. If u got any streaming service he getting paid — and paid a lot. No worries. For all the free mixtapes I am eternally grateful. Even for the ones I don’t like. Wayne is the most fan friendly artist maybe ever.
Re: “yeah yeah yeah yeah” I think it’s just a vibing thing. I’m sure I’ve heard other rappers do it these days, and I feel like they did it first. So it’s another example of Wayne imitating his own imitators. It was actually the only part of C5 that really annoyed me. But it was also a clue that Wayne redid most vocals on that album weeks before it was released. True Wayne heads knew that just by hearing the flow and how close it was to D6 at times, but if there was any doubt the “yeah yeahs” laid it to rest.
Re: C4, yeah I take mad shots at that album because it was hot trash. I loved it when it came out........until the first time I went back to C3. Hahahahaha. That’s when I was like this nigga fell off fr. Shit was boring asf. I was still too blinded by his hype when IANAHB1 came out before prison. But that’s actually when the fall off began. S4TW1 was actually the closest to 05-09 Wayne we got in terms of passion and hunger until S4TW2 and/or FWA (depending on your preference).
Wayne is like the sports team who won crazy championships 10 years ago and then tanked. But you love the team and you always root for them because the flashes of greatness are always there. IMO, D6/6R was like an undefeated season ending with C5 which was that underdog team winning one more championship ten years later!
Now most of the post-C5 features and Funeral I won’t say that team is back to losing miserably like before...... but they just sorta getting by. Average season. The star players are still highly skilled experts (hence songs like Mahogany, few others) but the team ain’t playing all together and clicking like it should.
Personally I’ll always stick with Wayne and root him on as a fan no matter how many games he wins or loses, because I appreciate the vision even when I disagree with shit personally (not that it matter. I mean who the fuck am I, right?) But I’d prefer not to wait another 10 years for an undefeated championship season, that’s all.Last edited by no_tom&jerry; 02-01-2020, 09:44 AM.
