Look at it as a comeback, don't compare it to the C3 season that was a different wayne...
I personally really like IANAHB2 but can understand why it may not be some people's cup of tea...

BUT to call IANAHB1 trash is quite a reach.

I'm starting to realize some of y'all just don't like southern hip hop and only fucked with Wayne when he was on that east coast vibe in the mid 2000s.

      Too Long - Don't Read

This post is too long for most people to read and would probably only piss you off (not you, Zodiac! - this is really for you), so please feel free to skip it.

My point was that if people take his music seriously, why would they be hanging around if they think his work is average and only C level when there is so much other music out there in the universe that is great? I have a lot of things to do with my time, and listening to someone whose music I rate as only a "C" is not a normal thing to do UNLESS I first make it clear that his "C" is everyone else's "A+."

Rating his music while still appreciating him as a human being or saying what you like is one thing, but there are some people on here who consistently ridicule and critique everything he does if it doesn't sound a certain way or was (or wasn't) from a certain year. That is not a Weezy fan - that is a "2004 only" Weezy fan, and I get irritable when they try to hate on his other music and the people who like it because it doesn't fit in with their ideal "2004-only Wayne." And some of them, if they don't like that particular style of music, start taking cheap shots at him and claiming that the drugs have done him in (as an example) when they know zero-to-fuck about what epilepsy and seizure medications can do to a person, their temperament, and/or their voice. Age comes in as well. Peoples' voices change as they age, and smoking all day long will make a lot of changes in your voice. Remember back to your basic high school biology class and this makes sense.

I also feel the same way about the Stans who think he can do no wrong and attack anyone who doesn't think Weezy is God (although if I only had a choice of Weezy or what most other people are rocking as their personal savior, my choice would definitely change to Weezy as well).

But to get on here and seriously throw rocks at the man for not doing what YOU want or attacking other people for not liking what YOU like - that is straight-out wack to me. Can people be bullied into liking or disliking some of his songs? Can they be tricked or shamed into liking or disliking some of his songs? Of course not, but they can learn to stop making comments in here if everyone throws bricks at them for stating their opinion. [That's why I was initially worried about asking for help or asking questions when I first got here. I have plenty of places in my life I can go if I want to get abused, and I didn't want to add this as one of those places as well. For the most part this Forum has treated me with respect and has helped me get what I REALLY wanted - access to his music that I never knew existed, and I will ALWAYS love this Forum for that.]

And that's the other thing. One person's opinion isn't better than another's, but there's a lot of brick lobbing that goes along with the grading. "I gave him a C-, sirrah, and I shit upon the B that you most egregiously gave him! Meet me later at the river with your second for a duel! Guns or swords, what? Tally-ho and all!"

I am betting that the majority of the people who come here on a regular basis know what I am talking about. I am also betting that the bullshit I have been seeing this week is because I just happened to jump on this Forum right before Funeral dropped and there are a bunch of people returning who haven't been here for a while, and it's their duty when they return to "represent" for the styles they like and ridicule and disrespect anyone who likes anything new or likes anything THEY don't like.

By the way, if I myself was able to evaluate an album after hearing it once or twice that would be the bee's knees, but now that I have played this particular album through 15 times+, I have a totally different set of songs I like now than the first go-through.

Also I am not used to how people get so "animated" [hehehehe - not the word I am actually thinking of] when they hear a tiny snippet and then pop in with a "This 5-second snippet (which was pirated and probably hasn't gone through any editing and may have been made when he was singing in his sleep) shows me with all certainty that Weezy is now senile, uses autotune too much, has herpes & zits & colitis, most certainly should not be allowed to skateboard even though he loves it, and is all washed up." A snippet? Yeah, you can pick some things out, but when I have seen a snippet critiqued (or pulled out - I received a ton of snippets from y'all) I have tried to match it later to the produced song and there is a world of difference.

Oh well. Talking to myself. As usual.

But I was so fucking entertained last night! PLEASE don't anyone stop. I am probably going to figure a way to save some of those conversations for when I'm feeling low. I adore most of you regulars, so you know this isn't a shot in your direction.

This all for me? Read a short paragraph about judging Wayne and whole songs off of snippets and that's already not me at all so ... do I have permission to skip this essay?
Also haven't attacked a single person who stated they like the album as of yet so .... you shouldn't mention me at all I suppose?

No, I meant I respect you enough that I wanted to explain where I was coming from. The initial comments were NOT directed at you. I actually respect what you have to say and how you say it.

Why you coming at me for speaking my opinion? If I agreed with your thoughts you'd probably not comment at all so why waste your time coming at me sideways lol?

Unlike sports when a player loses strength or speed, they can still make the same level of music as long as they've not lost their voice. and he clearly hasn't. I love ianahb1 as the best in his discography mind you. 2 is trash though.

*edit* Below may explain why I brought up "grading his music"

I will say I do love music discussion and Wayne himself has always talked about music being like sports for him, it's competition, I grew up with hearing him say that, so that's my mindset when it comes to his and other people's music.

To clarify, I wasn't throwing rocks or anything. what I'm saying is simply the fact of the matter is it's one thing to change your style of music, if it's still going to be good. there's times when he shows he can still make good music, but for what this album was supposed to be his "no more cash money Wayne" I surely didn't expect or go into it thinking it'd be whatever this current album is. And it's simply not what I personally enjoy.

Sure, I'm one person. but I will say if he's making music like this, it's not for me. I'm more of a fan of when Wayne talks about things and makes music that's not mumbly and horribly autotuned. He's at a point in his career where he has nothing left to prove I would say.

History in the music sense shows what he's been capable of for example. 2008-2013 was peak autotune Wayne. 2009 to be exact. He used to have great autotune, now it just sounds horrible. It's not something I can give a 5 out of 5 as much as I wish I could.

For anyone to have a favorite artist make such great music and start making music they don't enjoy, it becomes a point where it's the end of an era really. You'll always have the old songs, but if you play them 10000 times, you want to hear new stuff that sounds good too.

I was worried I would make myself misunderstood, and I apologize if you felt like I was shooting at you directly.

I have loved Tunechi's music for a while, although I do not have the longevity and exposure that most of the rest of you have. I came here to get educated, maybe find some ways of getting at some of his music, and seeing what people who are fans sound like.

Most of you are wonderful and educated about him and give him room to be himself instead of like some "fan Forums" where people are tied to a song or an era or go the opposite route and become Stans. This Forum was rocking when I came on, and I happened to stumble in right before the latest release. I learned so much and got much music I was overwhelmed, and I still spend most of my time when I am not at work or on this Forum cataloging the music that y'all have sent me and sorting it so I can start learning.

Right when the album was about to drop a number of people came on the Forum and started taking cheap shots at Weezy's music and at him as a person, which I thought was odd for a "fan site." Then when the album dropped, we were overrun by negative weirdos who have their opinions (but to them they were "facts"). I spent most of the day before I wrote that post gasping at some of the ugly shit I was reading and at the haughty tone so many people were taking about his music or his personal life without giving it a chance.

I happened to stumble onto your thread just as I lost my patience, and all I could think of was, "What? He gets GRADED? Like in school? The person who is a musical marvel is getting lectured and rated by the masses after one or two listens to his newest work?" and I just started laughing and couldn't stop. All of the sudden I just hit the wall because I was pissed about someone from another thread making an ugly comment about his personal life and drug use, which has fuck to do with us.

I still think that there are too many people in here who have missed the entire point of anyone's music, which is entertainment. And most of the discussions are pretty good and many of them are helpful as far as me learning something. It just happened to be your thread I was in when I started laughing, and unfortunately for you, you got to take the brunt of my hysteria. I apologize that you thought I was aiming at you when I was trying to figure out where all the hate comes from. I am not a Stan (what is the word for a female Stan? ) - there is a bunch of his music that I don't think I'll ever get to liking, but luckily for me he has 1800+ songs I can pick from.

So again, I am sorry that I flipped out on this particular thread.

                  Peace offering and apology.
