  • Long Multi's in Funeral: 13 syllables

If you've read the book you know that for most rappers, 3-4 syllables is a long multi. For Wayne, 3-6 syllables is commonplace. Here are a couple long ones from Funeral. Mama Mia is full of 5 and 6 syllable multi's, like a lot of great Wayne tracks.

    Long multi's:

    Mama Mia
“That’s overseas pussy, foreign food: we over ate. [13 syllables]
We hold them B’s up high as the moon: su woo in space. [14 syllables]

    Stop Playin With Me
I just got my face tatted it felt orgasming [13 syllables]
I got on a straight jacket then it must be fashion week [13 syllables]

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about! No one seems to actually observe how he works. When they do that ridiculous "vocabulary count among rappers" shit, most of them only analyze artist's first three or four albums, and he has changed so much over the years that they need to redo their vocabulary counts and such when they do their analyses. It really irks me ("don't seem to get why you Earthlings observe me" - ha!) that they only use his early albums before he really developed instead of his later ones.

People really just zone out when you try and explain shit like this to them

I like to be able to tell people that Tunechi is a LOT more sophisticated than they give him credit for, and this is one way of doing it. Yes, if they have to think about it they frequently zone out, but at least there are some data that show that we aren't spending our time listening to someone who doesn't know what he's doing and doesn't have a huge skill set.

The thing is, the more intricate something is, the less it appeals to the masses generally. This is why most pop songs are just simple and catchy. Make something that's technically good but not too experimental and crazy to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

I wish more people appreciated it, but I'd much rather Wayne keep doing what he does and making great shit than to try to appeal to everyone.
