  • The Heavy Sampling Of The C3 Sessions

Listening to the C3 sessions again (it never gets old) and something that flew over my head initially is just how many songs from the sessions have prominent samples or interpolations. It's in the double digits:

Prostitute -> Interpolation/Cover of Musiq Soulchild - You and Me
Burn This City -> Sample of Franz Ferdinard - This Fire
Diamonds & Girls -> Sample of Prince - Diamonds & Pearls
Help -> Sample of The Beatles - Help
I Feel Like Dying -> Sample of Karma - Once
Pussy, Money, Weed -> Interpolation/Cover of Outkast - Jazze Belle
Something You Forgot -> Sample of Heart - What About Love
Trouble -> Sample of Leah Kunkel - I Run With Trouble
World Of Fantasy -> Sample of Central Line - Man At The Top
One Night Only -> Sample of Jennifer Holiday & Sheryl Lee Ralph - One Night Only
Best Thing Yet -> Sample of Anita Baker - You're The Best Thing Yet
La La La -> Sample of New Birth - You Don't Have To Be Alone
Me & My Drank -> Interpolation of Big Moe - Barre Baby
Never Get It -> Sample of Daryl Hall & John Oates - Wait For Me
How Can Something -> Sample of Jermaine Jackson's - Do What You Do
Do It Again -> Sample of The New Birth - Hey America
    I'm A Beast -> Sample of Jackson 5 - Frosty
Killing Me -> Sample of The O'Jays You Got The Hooks In Me
I Took Her -> Sample of Ludacris - Fatty Girl

I know people say C3 could have been the greatest album ever if it didn't leak but, would these songs have even made the album We know Wayne has trouble clearing samples (he mentioned it in the Eliott Wilson interview for C5) and there are many prominent samples here. Also a lot of these samples are from big artists including Prince, the Beatles and the Jackson family. And we all saw what happened with "Playin' With Fire".

Based on this, I don't think many of the songs could have even made the album. The leaks are the only way we could have heard them. Thoughts

Wayne was at his most mature state during the OG C3 era, if someone remember during the Complex interview in December 2006 he said that people are tired of rappers talking about cars, money, bitches and want some real shit and then he recites part of Hustler Musik's hook and at the time he was recording Carter 3 and on most of the songs he speaks some real mature shit. C3 Sessions is still the best thing Wayne has ever done. That fucking album would've have I'm Me as the intro, how GOAT is that

But is that album even possible Would Wayne really have been able to clear all these samples The epic "OGC3" seems like something that isn't realistic imo.

There used to be a videos that were like 20 minutes each with samples from C3 sessions and official CIII. I can't find them anymore. Only a short version for official CIII

well maybe not all samples but most of them will probably get cleared

one thing is for sure, if you combine the best songs from the Carter 3 Sessions like I'm Me, Gossip, Something You Forgot etc. you have the best rap album of all time. Better than Illmatic, better than the Eminem Show, better than Ready To Die, better than RD, better The Blueprint
