I personally think Joe Budden is annoying but after watching this video I gained a little more respect for him.

What do you guys think of Universals handling of Wayne vs Drakes career?

I think Budden wrong.
First, the race thing isn't an issue like he inferred it was. Artists of all races get fucked by labels. Taylor Swift is fighting for her masters right now.

Drake signed a 6(?) album deal and got out of it after Scorpion. After that, he negotiated a deal where he is independent, but Universal still distributes for him. This was smart and a great way to get out of the labels claw.

In 2008 Wayne was out of his 6 album deal and what does he do Sign another 3 album deal. Then after furfilling that with Carter 4, he signs a 4 album deal on top - basically locking himself in with Cash Money (Universal) for 13 albums.

Drake was smart enough to leave when he was on top, and then put the label in a position where they need him (the hottest artist in rhe world) more than he needs them. Wayne had the oppurtunity to do this after C3 and even after C4 but opted to sign directly.

Also the times changed to where artists are more independent now and labels have less of a grip.

A label does not care about anyone, Drake included, it's simply business. But Drake played his cards so that he is needed by them - wheras Wayne let them use him by signing directly through CM. The label bends over backwards because Drake is not their asset. He distributes through them but could get up and leave anytime he wants. They own Wayne - if Wayne's mad who cares He couldn't leave because of the contract.

Very solid fact driven response! I agree with you completely. Drake made way better business moves then Wayne. I just really liked how Joe Budden responded like they need to give this man a blank check...that was respect, but in the end it was Wayne’s drug use and poor business decisions that led him to be underpaid and not as in control as he should be.
