Picture a much more modern, fine-tuned AIM. For example KTT forums has a lot of sub discord servers. One section of KTT made a "KTT Pokemon Chat" for the Pokemon fans of the forum to join and chat about the series. You can access it via website or by downloading the app which is available for PC and mobile. Arguably the biggest messaging/chat programs out there.

So if i made one for example i can have a channel for discussions on Wayne, then a channel to discuss Drake, etc for example.
