Reality is most rappers sound like shit vocally but they mixing teams give them a massive boost that makes them sound good eg
Migos, Travis Scott, Young Thug
Is this how Pusha got all that info on Drake for that diss track??
Cause it's not the mixing it's his voice. and if anyone seriously thinks that the engineers are pitching his voice up, they need to get a brain transplant.
How hard is it to understand? the mixing makes the vocals sound better, Can you guys imagine how terrible his vocals on Big Worm and StunnaMan must have sounded before mixing??
Did yall forget how Fabian complained about mixing rough and bad vocals before NC3 dropped?? He was obviously talking about the shit vocals he gets from Wayne and has to work with. I totally understand why he was frustrated and had to vent on social media.
I would be pissed too if everybody complained about my mixing, when in reality it was the artists vocals being almost impossible to work with.
Its not about the pitch it's about the quality of the vocals and they way they sit on the beat if you listen to C5 for example so much of his vocals have static and you can hear cracks and pops and other weird shit in the vocals that should be cleaned up in mixing not saying its exclusively fabien might be engineer might be the mic either way something isnt right
Why does Pusha’s mixing sound fine? Is there a conspiracy or does Wayne just rap retardedly high on purpose?
it's not just the way wayne raps that makes the mixing sound shitty. it's the actual mixing/mastering. the mids & highs on the EQ of wayne's voice are SO fucking high they don't blend with the instrumental. same goes for the compression & reverb. none of it matches. it sounds like it's floating above the instrumental rather than mixing into it.

It's not even about them making the voice higher or deeper, it's when it sounds so sharp and shallow that it doesn't sound like it's mixed with the music but rather sitting on top of it. Obviously it depends on the way Wayne is using his voice but on certain features the pitch and voice is basically the same but it feels so much more full and not so piercing. I doubt Wayne even listens to the final mixed and mastered songs which probably has something to do with it.
and again another smart person in this thread ^^^^^^^^^^^^.
