They do that shit before they put you in prison man. As far as a prisoners health is concerned the state has to maintain their health because if anything happens to the prisoner the Family can file a lawsuit for neglience. My uncle used to work at Attica. and my other uncle went to attica. Those are the prisons you should be concerned about. If he goin to a min security prison he gonna be fine, it's for low risk inmates.

Sometimes reading all this shit I feel like it's all these lil white boys tryn to be hardcore. SMH.
