Unofficial vs Official

Hey everyone, new to the Wayne forums. Wayne's my fav rapper. I'm still new to hip hop and I'm starting to do my research on the history of hip hop etc. I was wondering what is the difference between an unofficial and official mixtape? Wayne has so many mixtapes I see that are "unofficial". What does this mean? They were leaked? Why Wouldn't Wayne release them himself? Thanks in advance to anyone who can clear this up

G shit bro, in my personal opinion, Weezy's best hidden gems are his "unofficial", unreleased, leaked tracks..whatever you want to call 'em. Just to name a couple.. "I told Yall", "Outstanding", "American Dream/Mike Tyson Flow", and all the leaks from the C3 sessions. Most of my Top 10 Weezy songs are unreleased leaks.

Yeah I saw a list of every unofficial mixtapes. Shits crazy haha. Kinda weird how so many of his music has gotten leaked. More then any other artist it seems like

Yeah some "unofficial" tracks I found that I really like are trouble and ryder. I just wish Wayne put out the songs in official mixtapes to get more credit from the casual fans. Kinda wonder why he didn't do that like he did for "The Leak". On the song I told Ya'll that you told me about I bet the majority of people wont like it cuz of the autotune and how some parts he doesnt take it "seriously". oh well, top 10 rapper in my book.
