Drake Teams W/ "Forever" Producer For "Thank Me Later" Lead Single
Young Money's Drake has announced the lead single from his upcoming Thank Me Later debut and said it would be produced by the hitmaker responsible for his "Forever" hit.
According to Drake, the single will be called "Over."
The wait is almost over. Drake has selected the first single from his highly-anticipated debut album. The first offering from Thank Me Later will be called "Over." Drizzy exclusively tells Rap-Up.com that the track was produced by fellow Canadian Boi-1da, who is responsible for two of his biggest hits, "Best I Ever Had" and "Forever." The Young Money signee went through a painstaking process before choosing the right single. (Rap-Up)
Earlier this month, producer Boi-1da revealed his involvement on the project.
"Yes I do, that's just because I love doing that and experimenting, whereas if you work with someone who has their sound already, you have to cater to it," he told interviewer Sajae E. "Right now I'm solely focused on making Drake's album a classic album as of right now, so that's all I can say, but be on the look out for a bunch of stuff coming through. Shout-out to all of Toronto." (iLuvLoLa)
Producer Swizz Beatz recently spoke on working with Drake's debut.
"For Drake, I'm like, 'What you want? A party joint or you want another story joint? What you wanna do?' He said the smartest thing: 'We could shoot for a club thing but don't leave out anything else.' I like that. He's being open-minded, 'cause that means I'm comfortable with surfing in different areas musically. We could surf there, surf there, but don't box me in a corner, like, 'I need that #1 club smash right now.'" (MTV)
Kanye West associate No I.D. has reportedly clocked in time with the rapper
"I am working with J. Cole and we are pretty deep into his album, which is turning out great, also working with Drake, Jazmine Sullivan," I.D. said in an interview. "Kanye and I are executive producing Common's next album and then I want some new and unexpected things." (Hip Hop DX)
A release date for Thank Me Later has not yet been confirmed.
