lil wayne's covered up teardrop tattoo

does anyone know why lil wayne got that one teardrop tattoo on the left side (his left) covered up with that symbol?
i've always been curious so if anyone could tell me, that'd be great

His mother said he has too many tear drops. She said two are enough. Wayne also said she wants him to cover all of them up.

nothing against him for doin that but if its a official tear drop...believe me u feel the pain...so covering it up might make him not see the faces...real talk
