Halo Reach: Multiplayer Beta

Okay so Halo Reach Multiplayer Beta comes out May 3rd. I know this might seem like a silly question but what exactly is the multiplayer beta? Is it just like a trial of the Halo Reach Multiplayer experience or what? I don't even know what it is, I'd like for someone to fill me in

EDIT: But to answer your question it is a 2 week (not definite) trial of the multiplayer. You will be able to play matchmaking and theater, not custom games. The link above is the thread for the HR: MB Discussion.
