ok listen...em used to have like the most fans in the world, but he was gone for a LOOONG time, now he got his fans back, would he drop an album like in 2 months i definitely think he would go platinum.
em also lost a lot because of his album leaking early,
i think wayne will go platinum, first week. cause he's not like em, with em, you pretty much know what you're gonna get. with wayne, seriously, you'll never know what he's gonna do.
Re: Tha Carter IV will never sell 1 Mil first week
Em & Kanye were hot as fire when they released there CD's. Em did 700K, Kanye is projected to do like 570K... It'll be VERY hard for Wayne to hit a milli, but if anyone can in the hip-hop game it's him.
^ I respect your opinion, but I think you got it wrong.
I think that Wayne's unpredictability ain't got nothing to do with album sales, and if it did, I think it would have negative influence on his first week sales.
It's just the fact that nowadays most people don't buy music anymore, but instead download it for free. And I think a lot of people who listen to Wayne in general belong to that group.
i now realized i missed sort of a punchline...people will buy the album to hear what the fuck he's done this time. i know a lot of people that listens to wayne because of his randomness.
wayne is really good at keeping his songs from leaking though, think about that "30 seconds to new Orleans", he did it in like 08, if not sooner, and we got like a month ago...
on the other hand, does anyone (except the people that's getting paid if C4 goes platinum), really care about how much it would sell, as long as it's good?
Re: Tha Carter IV will never sell 1 Mil first week
^ No, most people will download it for free to hear what he's done this time. And I think ~15% of all the people who then downloaded the album are actually going to buy it, after they've checked it out. Times have changed.
And you must keep in mind that C3 leaked 2 times before the official release, but he's getting better at preventing his songs from leaking.
Re: Tha Carter IV will never sell 1 Mil first week
Everyone only ever sees Wayne as a music artists, he's a business man too, he knows Lollipop was huge, he knows it is the song that got him a lot more fans, he knows it helped the album sales. Therefore what do you think Wayne is almost guaranteed to do just from a good business stand point, he'll make another single like Lollipop.
Sales are just generally declining, it will be about 3 years since C3 by the time we get C4, sales have kept going down since then. For Wayne to sell a million first week (or pretty much any artist) then the album is going to have to be something very very special.
This thread is pretty pointless in my opinion. One, we have no idea what the first single will even be like. Two, we have no idea on features, producers etc... Three, there has been no promotion for the album at all. You can get a real indication on IF it could do a million in the first week when those three things happen.
Re: Tha Carter IV will never sell 1 Mil first week
^ Yeah, but people like to speculate about these things. It doesn't matter that we ain't got ANY information on how the album's gonna be. It's just nice to hear how other people think about how succesful C4's going to be, and discuss about it. We can still estimate by looking at other rappers recent albumsales, like Kanye's.

All I know is I cant even imagine what he's cooking up. Must be some seriously ill sh1t and none of it has leaked. C4 is going to be phenomenal for sure

Personally this is where I disagree. Kanye, Em etc.. are not Lil Wayne, he is his own artist, you can't judge another artists sales and use that to estimate on a completely different artists album sales especially when Wayne may come out with an album unlike nothing heard in rap before. Yeah it would be nice to know others opinions on the album, just not yet is my point. Wait until we have a little more on the album first, a critic couldn't give you a prediction, a rock fan couldn't, even Wayne himself couldn't right now. When we have a single, a list of the features or a tracklist and some promotion then people can start taking a guess at first week sales.
Not slating or trying to argue, I just see it as pointless right now, I could say it will do 200k and no more and someone will ask me why I think that or tell me it will do more when none of us have even a 0.01% of an idea what the album is like.
all i know is if it sounds anything like IANAHB it's going to be disappointing
If it is then I'm giving up on him, C4 is his ultimate test, not saying im gonna stop listening to him but i just won't be hyped as much for anything he drops
