  • News on -- Sorry For The Wait!

As Dwayne Carter & his team finalize his upcoming album, Tha Carter IV, Wayne is set to release yet another mixtape titled Sorry 4 The Wait this Wednesday.
Before you hit the jump for the review, let me say this now. 1. I don’t do reviews so don’t expect this to be 100% fantastic. 2. I do not give track names. 4. S4TW is going to have around 10/13 tracks. As of now, I’ve listened to 19 tracks unsure of which will actually make it to the mixtape. 3. This is just a Comparison of Sorry 4 The Wait & No Ceilings. 4. If your looking for track names, track-by-track review, quoted lines, anything along those lines, then don’t read this. Alright, now hit the jump to read my comparison/preview.
Me not being a huge Lil Wayne fan I would say that No Ceilings is my favorite mixtape from Weezy (That’s not with the factor that I’ve listened to S4TW). No Ceilings had some dope tracks & some whack ones & the same goes for S4TW. There are about 5 tracks that made my jaw drop. Don’t get me wrong, others were dope but I have heard better from Wayne. Something I don’t like about this mixtape is that a lot of his punch lines are 1-2 and then he’s done unlike some of his other work that he could go in on a track and murder it. We only get to see that a few times on this mixtape.
I asked you guys for some questions via twitter and tried answering them with out spoiling the mixtape.
Q: Is this mixtape a lot more different than any mixtape we’ve gotten from Wayne?
A: The way I would put it as “different” is that he’s sober. I think that also could be a factor of the delay of Tha Carter IV. Wayne know’s he sounds different sober so he’s probably being a perfectionist on the album but who know, that’s just my thought and nothing official.
Q: Is it better than NC?
A: I don’t think so. I don’t like Wayne’s sober music but this mixtape still does damage but I don’t expect it to be bigger then No Ceilings.
Q: On Lil Wayne mixtapes he normally goes in over other rappers beats. Does he go over any other rappers beats on Sorry For The Wait? If so, which beats?
A: We’ve all heard Lil Wayne over Meek Mill and Rick Ross’ “Tupac Back” (Tunechi’s Back) by now, so that answers your question. But, not to ruin the surprise, I won’t list the other beats Wayne rhymed over. Oh what the hell, he jumps on YC’s “Racks.”
Q: Do you think he’s going as hard as he could?
A: No. He could go harder for sure.
Q: Does it live up to the hype?
A: I think people are going to dig this mixtape for sure. I mean come on, it’s Weezy!
Q: After you’ve listened to the mixtape do you think he’s fallen off?
A: I don’t know whether or not he’s “fallen” off, but his music since jail hasn’t really been the same to me from his music before he was locked up.
Q: How does Sorry 4 The Wait compare to classic Wayne tapes like da Drought 3 or Dedication 2?
A: It doesn’t compare to those projects in a sense, because so many people consider those mixtapes to be classic.
Well that’s my little preview/opinion of Weezy’s ‘Sorry For The Wait’ and ‘No Ceilings.’ ’Sorry For The Wait’ is expected to release sometime this week. The opinions in this article reflect Eric and no other Rap Dose staff members.
