Just throwin this in here so i can get it out of the Wayne Forum..
Don’t ask me how, don’t ask me why, just believe me when I say that I have had a full listening session of Take Care by Drake. Set for an October 24th release date, I had a great opportunity to listen in along with 3 others just last night! I will give you a short review of each track!
1. Shot For Me – This is a great intro song. A great way to introduce your album. At about 3 Min long, two verses and a soothing hook it sets the mellow for the album. Drake sings on the hook in a faint voice, “Just one shot for me”.. His verses are mellow as well, but at least he IS rapping on them.
2. Headlines – We’ve all heard the song, and I still think it is one of the stand out tracks on the album.
3. “The Ride” (featuring The Weeknd) – Well, Drizzy goes back to his singing ways. This song kind of reminds me of the Trust Issues song we all heard earlier in the year. Weeknd does a nice job on the hook and Drizzy lays some soothing vocals across the song as well. There is about a 40 second portion of the song in which drake lays a few bars.
4. “Marvins Room” – Welp, we heard it, hoped it didn’t make the album cut, but it did.
5. “Club Paradise” – Heard this one too before.. smh…
6. “Her Regrets” (interlude) (featuring The Weeknd) – No bars, little singing… Just talking. Drake shares a story of what it sounds like his last girl as the weeknd sings faintly in the background. Nothing special, maybe 30 seconds long..
7. “Her Regrets” – Well, Drake all the sudden turns around and turns the interlude that sounds like would be a soft song, into a hard beating, hard rapping, three verse song.. Drake even raps on the chorus as well. Drake says “I should of let her go, but it was fuckin late, Now she’s playin games, knowing that I’ll wait”.
8. “All Kinds” (featuring Justin Timberlake) – Well, Jusitin does a nice job surprisingly and so far this is one of my favorite songs. Verse 1, and 2 is all Drake while Justin and Drake go back in forth on the hook. Timbaland does a nice job on the production as well..
9. “The Real Her” (featuring Lil Wayne) – This is what everyone has been wanting, another ransom? No. Another “She Will” ? No. It’s different. Drake tackles verse 1 and 3 as well as the hook as wayne get’s a LONG verse 2. Street Runner did a fantastic job on the production too. This song sounds like it has potential to be a banger. Drake spits “Wayne warned me bout this moment right here, they fuckin hate me now, but they loved me last year, well im back and don’t forget it, it’s still Do Right and Kill Everything…. I won’t finish that line (it’s so good) .. (:.. Wayne does a nice job of tackling his verse, and you can tell he worked hard. But, he didn’t kill Drake on his own song, although I think he coulda with this beat..
10. “Good Ones” – Drakes absolutely murders this track.. With two verses and a very brief hook, it’s def one of my favorites. He goes through and mentions all the things people been saying and hating on him when he “left” for a min. And I won’t tell ya who, but SHOTS were DEF thrown at someone…
11. “Sing for Me” (interlude) – A Short, 1 min song… Drake sings a lil bit, and although not listed, it sounded like Shanell was singing in the back as well..
12. “Free Spirit” (featuring Rick Ross) – TAT MY FUCKIN NAME ON YOU SO I KNOW ITS REAL!
13. “Lord Knows” – Just Blaze does a nice job on this track. Drake raps, sings, raps, sings and sings again. Drake mentions his mother and his boss “wayne” in this song… great laid back song.. Kind of reminds me of Fireworks from TML…
14. “Doing It Wrong” (featuring Stevie Wonder) – WOW. AMAZING! This song is my favorite after a first listen. I honestly DO NOT want to spoil anything for anyone on this track, but I think this would be a GREAT single.
15. “Never Enough” (featuring The Weeknd) – Laid back, Weeknd tackles the last verse (singing) Drake takes care of the hook while singing “I keep trying my best, but it’s never enough, never enough….and so on (:Nothing really special, probably not in my top songs on the album.
16. “To My City” – Toronto STAND UP… Huge shouts to his city on this one. Talks about how he loves going back and is “Still carrying his city on his back”… Decent song!
17. “Take Care” (featuring Nas, 8Ball & MJG and J. Cole) – Another one Everyone’s been waiting for! Nas absolutely destroys. I thought J. Cole was going to be the last one spitting but drake comes out of no where and lays a few bars in the last 20 or 30 seconds.. J. Cole was a GIANT Disappointment on this song tho L
18. “Yours Sincerely” – Drake signs off with a decent track, something you can move too, but then again something you can lay back and smoke to as well. Sends thanks to people in his life and especially thanks his fans.
So, Take Care to me is an awesome, well-put together album. He did what HE HAD to do. Following last years disappointing TML album he def comes back and ups it by a lot. Although, I only had one listen. I feel like this is an album I will be able to ride to for a while. Is it better than Cole World? Idk, I would have to take more listens, but from what I heard I think it could give Cole World a run for it’s money. I give this album a 8./10. Later!
