When Lil Wayne turns 35, the now 29-year-old rapper says his sons will likely be into sports, and he plans to be at every game. He tells GQ that he wants to retire from rapping in a few years and devote himself to his kids. "Whatever they're into. That's where I am. I'm at every game. I'm the dad with the hat on. The jersey. That's me," he says of his future.
Wayne entered the hip-hop game at age 11 -- the youngest member of Cash Money Records -- and says soon, it'll be time to step away from the spotlight. "Basically, I have been doing this for eighteen years. That's reason number one," he said. "I have accomplished all that I have set out to accomplish and more. Also, I have a label, and I've only put out two artists [Drake and Nicki Minaj]. I have a lot more work to do, and it'd be selfish to not focus on being the boss and focus on their projects."
Maybe a little time away from the microphone will give Weezy a chance to indulge in the pastimes he missed out on because of his early start in showbiz. He explains his newfound passion for skateboarding, saying "I'm still like a kid, because unfortunately my childhood was raped away from me because I became a star, a rapper, or whatever you want to call it, and you can't be a kid and a rapper at the same time." Weezy says he began skating seriously earlier this year. After being impressed by something he saw on TV, the rapper says immediately he got a ramp installed on the roof of his home.
