Well random idea........since I've noticed that a lot of those spam posts occur late at night(my time), is it possible to maybe do iTunes' idea between like 1-6am? When not that many people are online/active........

Nope. That would be horrible itunes. I think we should go w/the 'you arent allowed to make your own topic' until you get like 25 posts or so thing...

This is a job for the MODS. I Think Everytime sum1 makes a thread. it has to be approved by the mods of section before it can be visible on the Forums. That would stop spam and pointless Threads. That Way. Every Thread is Legit. What Yall Think. Heres An Example:Like On Myspace How u approve a comment before its on ur page. PLEASE DONT SPAM THIS. STAY ON TOPIC

That's actually a bad idea, there are over 12,000 topics so your telling me in the span of another 8 months 7 admins will have to make way and approve 12k+ topics? Little much for me.

Your idea may sound good in theory, but it has big problems in it:

What if a moderator of that section, or a staff member period, is not online? Then the thread would take up to 24 hours to approve and that is just too long of a time. That is the only major problem I can see besides the fact that no other forum that I use does that.

On the other side of things Star's idea is good, but also has problems. I feel some new members have a lot of useful information and it would be nice for them to be able to make a thread and contribute. At the same time it would stop those people/computers from posting those "How to convert iPod....." threads. Which is a huge plus. I think it could be different for each section. Like in order to create a thread in the "Introduce Yourself" section you should only be able to have up to 10 posts. Meaning after you make 10 posts you can no longer create a thread there.

Or maybe for every other section besides Latest News/Introduce Yourself it could be up to 25 posts to create a thread like you suggested before. But for those two sections it could be different.

Introduce Yourself: 1-9 posts [Once you have ten you can no longer make a thread. And you can only make one thread in that section period, this will stop the ability to spam that section.]

Latest News: 100+ Posts [More news from trusted people. Less bullshit spam or false news.]

Every Other Section: 25+ [This will stop bullshit pointless threads, but not completely unfortunately]

Just a little outline I created real quick to get my point across. Thoughts.

EDIT: Also I believe that vBulletin supports these features. Just sayin...

just say some one with 67 posts found out CIV tracklist he cant post it in latest news so thats another dumb idea
in all other topics its a forum if someone wants to make thread then let them
The whole point of forums is to talk who would sign up to a forum which doesnt let you start threads immediatley

Never said it was a set plan, so I'm not worried about whether or not people like it. Many forums have stuff like this btw, because certain sections are off limits to "noobs". On some forums you can't even view a section if you don't have enough posts/rep, like our Downloads section.

As for no one making a thread in there with 1-9 posts, that is wrong. Every person (almost) that makes a thread in there to introduce themselves does not have any posts. I guess I should make it 0-10, would make more sense.

I see a few people once a week that post in there that are new. It would cut down on spammers posting useless topics in more busy sections like Latest News..

The move to vBulletin would obviously take a little time, but it'd be worth it IMO
