Posts Per Page

I was wondering if there is any way to make it so I can see 40 posts per page on these forums, or if Danny can set it to where we have the option to set it to viewing 10, 20, 30, or 40 posts per page. I do this on another forum that I use to post on, although it was hosted by vBulletin.

Vbulletin is generally better than PhpBB, its got so many useful features. But im not really sure about this.

Yeah it can be done bro, its just a matter of Danny wanting to have more posts per page. He did it when we were making the forums bigger in order for us to move threads in the correct place faster. I think he went as far as 100 if I remember correctly. Quick question though, why would you want more posts per page?

Yes, as long as "Danny" continues to have the latest version of phpbb, it can most definitely be set up. It's really not all that hard. Once it is set up, it should be able to be changed via the user control panel.

More post pert page is just more conveniant and 10 posts a page is a waste of space and just causes too much back up. Would you prefer a thread with 40 pages? Or 10? Clicking the tab to go to the next page 40 times in itself is annoying. Now 100 posts a page is overkill. I recommend no more then 50. That way it's just easier on the viewers of the topic.

Exactly, thank you. I want more posts per page because at the moment a thread with 100 posts in it is 10 pages. That is 10 different pages I have to load. It would be much more convenient to have the option in the UCP to adjust it to a max of 50 per page. That would make a thread that is 100 posts only 2 pages long.

It makes the topics somehow more "fluent" to read and engaging because sometimes im reading a page with people reciting other peoples quotes and answearing questions that im not aware so i have to jump back page by page to see how this conversation started...

Thanks haha. And no he didn't recruit me, I came to give him a hard time of course. You guys have been too easy on him haha. And I would link but I don't want to advertise, however if you would PM safe kid, he can redirect you.

As for forum questions, feel free to private message me or ask me when you get the chance as I have a plethora of knowledge about it after working on forums with a friend of mine for 2 years.

Another benefit of posts per page by the way is also topic value. As mentioned earlier, one doesn't wanna flip through 100 pages to see what people are saying. Also, some of you might overlook this but with 50 posts per page, the ctrl + f feature is just a complete lifesaver. So if you go back to a thread to find a post, ctrl + f can bring you auto there, but if theres 10 posts per page, it'll be a lot more difficult and ctrl + f is a waste of time. It also allows you to go straight to your posts or another users posts you may like...haha just something people tend to overlook.

I have just doubled the posts per page.

But I can't change the number of posts per page people can view, everyone has to see the same.

So though you may like 40, others might only want 10 etc.
