I say that they can view the download section and such, but instead of having a 10 post count and what not, you have a tag that lets the poster of the download link hide it for people with x amount of posts, or you need x amount of posts, depending on the extremity of the file.

Keep the 10 post requirement and unknowingly to new members make it so during their first week posts have to be accepted, anything bullshit gets deleted, members with valid input don't see it and then all Mods have total control over which people are gonna just spam it up for downloads and which aren't

Like 90% of spam was created in the Lil Wayne section of the forums which only Danny, Global Mods and Artille and Eastside can clean up, us other 4 can't do anything about it but watch.

I do my best to clean up the spam. I am on more often then EastsideBoi, but it doesn't mean I can get every thread cleaned. People spammed for 10 posts before we were mods and Danny didn't clear all of them up. You sir just want something to complain about. Although I agree with you that waiting a week to access the downloads section is the best way, but some members do come on here to be active members and that wouldn't really be fair to them.

find a way for the users to not be able to make a "thread" until 20 posts or something so they will be able to only post on exsisting threads. or just change the download topic limit to like 100 posts or something. i doubt the spammers will make 100 posts about bullshit cuz then they will have no life

in under 3 minutes i get 10 posts by spamming...


Negatives

1. I would make more work for the mods

2. I'd only be going to the download section...and never posting again.

1. The person that made an account most likely wouldnt even be posting...there would be no need for them too do that...they would just have to wait.

2. Maybe it would encourage them to actually post legit stuff other than spamming

3. Less work for the mods.

Can I just point out though that whenever someone spams a thread or makes a new topic that's just spam loads of active members spam as well by posting one word or two words like "BAN" or "Off Topic"

That creates even more work for Mods to deal with. It takes 1 person to post a link to show the poster where the right thread is to post in and no-one else should be replying then...

Yeah I agree. That's why one person should reply saying that it's spam or with a link to the right place to post and that's it.

But we do need the one week thing, maybe even 2 weeks just to get rid of the persistant fuckers

one week would be fine i reckon coz if they want to get into the download area they wont spam seeing as there is no post cap and maybe it could convine some of them to contribute
