Is Sean Garrett the next Young Money Millionaire? In an exclusive interview with Rap-Up.com, the singer-songwriter reveals that he may be joining hip-hop’s hottest crew.
The hitmaker, nicknamed “The Pen,” has enlisted Young Money’s First Lady Nicki Minaj for his new single “Get It All” from his forthcoming U.S. debut album. When asked whether he’ll be taking his relationship with Lil Wayne’s label one step further, he replied, “It’s in the sky. You just look up and watch the stars line up.”
The man behind hits for Beyoncé and Usher hinted at the potential pairing. “I will say this, I’m really, really happy about what’s going on with me right now and I’m happy about my team. I’m definitely happy about my new venture. I’m not signing an artist deal, I’m doing a venture. It’s a movement. I’m into power-brokering. I definitely feel really excited about making this real move.”
The ink is almost dry and an official announcement is expected in the next few weeks via his website iamthepen.com. “We’re in negotiations right now. It’s almost done.”
This would not be the first time Garrett has crossed paths with Lil Wayne. He toured with the Young Money CEO this winter and they collaborated on tracks for Destiny’s Child (“Soldier”) and Chris Brown (“Gimme That”).
