What are you guys expecting/predicting from YM next year?
As a whole I think they should will release another album, if not next year then the following year. Hopefully with more direction and less violence driven music. YM has the potential of getting mainstream spotlight if they make hits like bedrock. It doesn't have to be a one off thing. Lil Wayne needs to take more control of the group as well.
R&B mixtape should come in the first couple months of the new year hopefully. I don't know if Drake has the motivation and drive to make it as good as So Far Gone. Especially since he took a hiatus from his singing to rap, I really hope he can pull it off. Though I am excited for the album. Take Care is a weak as title for a album though, I'm expecting that Q3 next year, might be Q4 really. I don't mind, I don't want a half assed album where the artist just makes 15 songs and thats it. If your going to make a album make a lot of music(40+ songs). Albums these days have too many fillers and not enough content. Hopefully, if Drake can release a big single he can generate some buzz and get gold status first week. I am also hoping he can get Andre 3000 on that album as well. He may also go on tour, afterwards/before for promo purpose as well.
2010 was a good year for Tyga, Tyga has to make 2011 a great year. Hopefully we get Black Thoughts 2 soon into the new year. Tyga really delivered on Well Done, though one criticism is that the songs are too short. I hate 2 minute songs, really leaves a lot to be desired. Though I thought Tyga really improved in 2010, he needs to stand up more and gather a following. At the moment he is still off peoples radar outside of the YM fanbase. Everyone is on J.Cole, Wiz, Big Sean and in 2011 Tyga needs to put himself on that list and be in regular circulation in the media. Excited for the album, hopefully we see a full rap album and not some weak stuff like his first album. That was a shocker. I believe Tyga has the goods, though if the singles don't get picked up then you can expect some mediocre buzz and weak sales. I think the Album will come Q3.
More mixtapes, hopefully he can show some improvement, stop the autotune and change your musical direction. Do not try being a thug or a gangsta, your 17 for god sake. I really think YM are utilizing him wrongly, he should be the teenage superstar like Soulja Boy was once and how Justin Bieber is currently. He needs to get a little bit more into the pop genre and crack it mainstream. Teenagers will flock in numbers. His mixtape with JB will hopefully do this and I think thats what he is trying to do. Album will be interesting, hopefully he can generate the buzz. Album will probably come Q4. I doubt that though.
Nicki had a awesome 2010, she might fall back a little next year. Her album was average at best, really it was confused. Nicki has two sides, her more serious side and the outrageous freak. On her album, one moment she was one, the next she was the other. We all know what side people want. She is a novelty, we have enough Rihanna's in this game. I hope she will release a mixtape or two, because I think that is where she can shine most. I don't think a album will come next year, I will be surprised if it does, probably 2012. She should go on tour as well because it looks like Pink Friday is quiet popular in terms of sales.
I hope Cory can convert his impressive talents into a mixtape or some type of work. He needs to release more material. Everyone says omg Cory can spit!! and omfg Corey Gunz is firrre really? he doesn't have much stuff out though does he. Buzz will come for him but not from a mainstream point of view. Only bigger rap fans can appreciate his music and Corey can reach them easily with his raw freestyles.
Gudda is talented, though sometimes his flow is just really badly off the beat and he wastes too many bars. Though on some songs he is just on his game. Songs like Fuck Today/Politics/I dont like the look. So Gudda Gudda has the potential to generate a fanbase but he lacks consistency, he did very well to do that on his first mixtape so there is the potential. His second mixtape was off a bit, hopefully he can redeem himself on Guddaville 3 which I think will come out Feb/March 2011. I'm hoping Gudda can really improve because he can make it.
Jae Millz will probably release a few mixtapes. A few good songs, the rest will be trash. He will probably release a few videos too but it doesn't do much. Lil Chuckee will do nothing interesting, same as T-Streets. I will be surprised to get any material whatsoever from Streets. Short Dawg might release a few mixtapes as well, he is a decent punchline rapper but way generic. Shanell has a beautiful voice, I hope she releases something next year.
