    Re: YOUNG MONEY Vs. Slaughterhouse

This is the only current hip-hop group I know too be looked upon as an all-star line-up. All have been respectively labeled as mc's re-birthing modern day hip-hop.
Tha Carter IV vs. Watch The Throne ???

If this isn't sarcasm, I'm absolutely baffled lol.

I can understand people having YM as there favourites 100%, they make catchy, chart ready, punchline filled songs that you can sing along to, quote all day and guarentee that girls will most of the time dig it too.

But lyrically YM are absolutely nowhere near the top. On a hip hop level they're a bunch of punchline abusing, verse recycling clowns with the majority piggy backing off a charismatic and popular head honcho in Wayne. How many of these artists make hot songs themselves 9 times outta 10. Drake is 1 because despite being an average singer, he has an ear for a hook and occasionally top class lyrics. His subject matters are getting a lil tired though, self doubt and struggle is great, and it works for Drizzy, but I'm hoping he changes it up a little for Take Care. And tbh I think he will.

Nicki, if she wasn't female, would be nowhere near as popular. She's above average, good looking and a lil skitzo, but on the whole she's pretty one dimensional. Sure she has a few different songs here and there but her catelogue at the moment is best listened to in small doses IMO.

As for the rest, IMO- Tyga is average, Millz is average, Gudda goes between above average and abysmal, Chuckee is a travesty, Twist shows a little potential but won't develop under YM, Cory Gunz is solid and someone I'm looking forward to hearing more from, T-Streets is the sort of guy who'd get into university undeservedly despite missing half the year of high school, Shannell is a good singer and needs more shine, Mack Maine is a decent guy, great manager, completely unmemorable rapper. If I've forgotten anyone, lemme know lol.

So yeah, I don't think YM, lyrically with a few exceptions are particularly good. They ain't half as funny as they think they are either, and seem to spend 8 bars a song laughing- presumably at their fans for buying into them as a unit, when family or not YM are a couple of superstars and an entourage of others on their coat-tails.

^ Question: Why are you still here if they're nothing but "a bunch of punchline abusing, verse recycling clowns" ?

Lol it's still Young Money > Everything.

Because those punchline abusing, verse recycling clowns happen to make some hugely enjoyable music now and then. Plus I've been hired to raise the forumn IQ by 10...lol jk

Don't get me wrong I love Drake, I have all his stuff, but he's not a great singer live right now. His singing on record is amazing, his lyrics are deep, but he's not a natural singer IMO, and his lyrics might get stale if he doesn't switch it up for album 2. Don't get me wrong I'm a fan.
