Last year, while Lil Wayne was locked up in prison his protégés Drake and Nicki Minaj stepped up and carried the Young Money banner. Now, with the boss back, instead of asking his team to play the background, Weezy wants the rest of the crew to make moves.
Next up at bat?
It could be Tyga, who's already on the map with "I'm On It" (featuring Lil Wayne and produced by Calvo Da Gr and his Snoop Dogg and Pharrell-assisted "Really Raw."
"I been working real hard," the California rhyme-spitter told MTV News before Sunday's Grammy Awards. "We got the first two singles, it's crazy. It's gonna be the first thing people really understand about me. To let people know who Tyga is and what I represent and what I have to offer, you know?"
In addition to Snoop and Skateboard P, Tyga revealed that Drake is also set to be on his album, Careless World. And Tyga's currently trying to decide between the track with Drake and a number called "Far Away" for his next single. He and Drake have a history together outside of YM, having toured together in 2010. Tyga served as the opener to the Thank Me Later star's Light Dreams and Nightmares trek.
In spite of his growing profile, Tyga said he feels no need to rush his project. He patiently waited behind Nicki and Drizzy, and now Wayne's project is a priority for the camp.
