smh. in my view just about the whole album is a miss.
it all sounds good for the most part, but a lot of the production didnt have any body to it.
it was all this sparse spacey stuff, which is cool, if the weeknd is doing it.
or clams casino or something but this came off wayy too light.

then all of the raps were hollow as shit.
its like he played all his emotional simp shit just because.
thats what drakes music is supposed to be now.
thats his card. thats his ploy. so regardless.
if thats actually how he feels or not.
thats what we got from him.
and its a shitty premise to begin with.
lets sympathize with drake while he pretends to be emotional.

this'll be the first album that i can think of off hand.
where i enjoyed the singles more than the rest of the album.

the only records where i felt like i heard drake.
and where he's at right now are cameras.
look what youve done and the ride.

i'd rather hear drake be cocky as shit all day.
than hear him try to play this emotional shit like its authentic.

thats why the ride works the same way aston martin music did.
he was being smug and it was authentic. you can always tell the difference.
between some authentic raps and some manufactured shit.
thats where this album fell apart for me.

tbh i kinda see what ur saying, if you dont like the style it might be hard to appreciate it, and tbh im not sure if drake actually does all these things he says, but i see it more as a story hes telling, and the story is called drake, hey at least its not "roman" right?

thats the thing.
ive been a drake fan since day one.
so i know that emotion plays a big part.
in his writing. but more than that it was being honest.

i know hes rapping about real emotions.
but it doesnt sound like hes really feeling those emotions.

" it might look i care, but only on camera"

is in one of the more honest moments on the album.
but its ne of the few times where you can feel what hes saying.
instead of him trying to resonate with some shit that you might be feeling.

i totally agree.
that there is a story called drake.
but some parts are too fictional for the wrong reasons.

i think the ride is drake's story.
thats the same drake that showed up on aston martin music.

but he probably figures thats a hard person.
to relate to so he doesnt tell that side of the story.
that often. but thats whats real. thats whats worth telling.
