I'm very happy she said this. First of all because I'm a fan of her because of her hip-hop songs, not her pop songs (Super Bass is fun, Starships is a Katy Perry song has nothing to do with Nicki). Second of all, Pink Friday, which is mostly hip-hop, sold 1.7 million copies in the USA. Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, which contains more pop, sold nearly 700k copies in the USA. Her pop singles might do better at the charts, but the hip-hop community buys her album not the pop.
I hope The Re-Up and the 3rd album are gonna be a succes, and she will make a brand like Wayne has with Tha Carter and Jay-Z with the Blueprint. I know she can do it, the first responds to The Re-Up are extremely positive (still haven't heard anything, I have my copy of the album friday so listen to it than) so if she'll succeed to make amazing rap songs for her upcoming albums, she might become one of the biggest names in hip-hop (like Wayne, Kanye, Jay-Z etc.) today, something a female has never done before (not even Lil' Kim imo)

I was talking about songs like Champion, Freedom (her new single), Did it on Em etc. Listen to the 7 new songs of The Re-Up when it comes out and your opinion will be changed. I guess.
