  • Nicki's change in 2013, Did she win you (urban community) back?

So in 2012 as we all know, Nicki Minaj received a lot hate for going pop (selling-out). Although she had just as much rap tracks out as pop, Starships overshadowed it all and Nicki lost a lot of urban fans. I went through the Roman Reloaded thread on here and read how dissapointed people were when they heard the music. Although Starships was a huge success, the album itself wasn't really a sucess. It opened with 253k copies in its first week, while Pink Friday opened with 378k in its first week. Pink Friday sold way more and had way more singles that went gold/platinum and a success.

Nicki released a re-release of RR called The Re-Up with 7 new hip-hop songs on November 2013. It was clear she wanted to win back urban fans, she actually confirmed it in interviews. She released High School as a single which was clearly aimed at an urban crowd and a few days ago she dropped a freestyle on a remix of Boss Ass Bitch. In 2013 she changed a lot of things

    - She said she won't make pop songs anymore
    - She went on a lot of tracks, all rapping
    - She changed her look by cutting the crazy outfits and colourful wigs. She either wears a blonde or black wig now and just 'normal' outfits (most of the time not a lot of clothes)
    - She is way more sexual lately, posting topless selfies, twerks for Lil Wayne at the BBMAs etc.

a few of her looks in 2013

now did Nicki win you back, if you look at how you looked at her in 2012 compared to now? Are you excited for her new album which will come out this year?

I think some people still dislike her but she gained a lot of support from urban crowd, her verse on Dope Dealer had the, going insane + all those sexy selfies and the sexual attitude in general helped too.

who says you need to be a part of that to listen to an album? Give it a chance, it probably has a lot of male rappers on it you like and it'll be a good hip-hop album. If you listen to idk Justin Bieber his new album just to give it a chance it doesn't mean you're a 'Belieber'

great! Me neither. I was extremely dissapointed but she'll never lose me, same with Wayne. I'm dissapointed when he's on a song with Paris Hilton or delivers another shit verse but he'll never lose me and I will ALWAYS stick up for him when people say Wayne is trash, same with Nicki.

No but how she acts and talks on twitter / writing on her webbsite kinda shows that she want her main fans to be females Home : Nicki Minaj My Pink Friday, "Barbz", Her perfoume, etc

But I think Nicki is the best female artist togeter with Rihanna and Kat Dahlia..

                From her webbsite:
Barbz! There are only a few days left to enter for a chance to win 1 of 3 Couture by Minaj Divinity bottle outfits. The promotion closes on the 2nd of January. Don't miss your chance to enter.

Which of the Pink Friday Fragrances will you be wearing tonight for new years eve?

But yeh ima fan of Nicki so

I get what you mean but that's not true. 'Barbz' annoys me too but that's just for the hardcore fans, they always give their fanbase a name (Barbz, BeyHive, Beliebers, Wayniacs, Little Monsters etc.)

You don't need to be a part of that to listen to her or go to her concert etc.

I didn't like her going Pop but tbh it made sense for her, and it's not that bad of a look for a chick. That aside and never stopped being a fan, but she has gained more of my respect back rapping wise. That boss ass bitch track she just dropped was dope af; that to me was her just coming back on some cocky shit and proving she's by far the best female rapper and a solid rapper overall.
