Nicki Minaj checked in with her British Barbz in an interview with DJ Semtex on BBC Radio 1Xtra. During the 18-minute conversation, the “Pills N Potions” rapper provided some insight into her upcoming third album The Pink Print.“I’m super excited about the music that I have in store for people,” she said. “I have some stuff coming out in the next couple weeks that is gonna blow people’s minds and I’m just gearing up for this album. I took my time with the album and I’ve never felt better, to be honest.
A confident Nicki also weighed in on some of her collaborators including Soulja Boy, Young Thug (“He’s not contrived. He’s just raw talent”), and her mentor Lil Wayne, who she’s currently in the studio with.

On The Pink Print: “I think it’s good sometimes to deactivate yourself from the machine of the industry. I think I did that. I got enough time to focus and get a new perspective on who I was in relation to the industry, in relation to rap. I am a lot more confident. I really feel like this album will be a blueprint for female rappers to come. That alone should tell you confident I am about the music.”
On her favorite remix of “Chi-Raq”: “The Game bodied it. He kinda surprised me. That was one of the most lyrical Game verses I heard in years. I didn’t really expect him to go that crazy on it. That was one that really stood out to me. He was mad. Somebody made him mad or something.”
On Young Thug: “Somebody described him the other day as a 2014 ODB, and I thought it was really interesting ’cause there’s a style that he has almost like he doesn’t care. He’s in his own world, he talks with his own slang, he’s just a very different type of dude. He dresses different, he looks different. [Birdman] took him under his wing. Baby loves Young Thug. So Young Thug is kinda like our family.”
On the difference between The Pink Print and Roman Reloaded:“This album is more confident. It’s more focused. The second album lacked a little bit of focus. The first album was very focused and very raw and just real. I’m addressing things that I’ve never addressed before on the third album, which is another thing that I think my fans are going to love.”
On Soulja Boy: “He reached out to me. He hit up Mack Maine and he was like, ‘Yo, I got this joint I did. It’s a beat and a hook.’ And I heard ['Yasss Bish!!'] and I was like, ‘Didn’t you do this on a Vine?” And he was like, ‘Yeah, but it’s [COLOR=#FF0066 !important]hot. Do it.’ When I played it in the studio, the beat is crazy. I just jumped on it. We mixed and mastered it that night and threw it out that night.”[/COLOR]
On “Pills N Potions”: “It’s just so indicative of where my life is right now. That’s the only thing I can say without giving away too much of my personal… In terms of the sound, I wanted my first official single to be something unexpected. People never heard me sing like that in that tone. I think it was something fresh and new.”
On Lil Wayne: “He hasn’t played any role on my album other than saying, you better rap, you better body these beats. We’re actually in the same studio right now, starting from today for a few weeks. My connection with Wayne is so deep that I don’t gotta be on his album and he don’t gotta be onmy album for him to always play a role as a mentor in my life. One of the biggest motivators in my career was just watching Wayne’s work ethic when I first came it the game. I would see him go so hard and do so many features and do so many mixtapes and do so many albums, and I was just like, ‘Yo, this dude don’t get tired.’ I’m just in love with him. He motivates me like a fighter.”

She favorited a tweet of me in which I said I wanted the next single to be a radio-friendly hip-hop song, a summer banger like Dance A$$.

The 'blow you mind' feature is hopefully Jay-Z on a NY dedicated song but I have a feeling it's on old female MC like Remy Ma or Foxy Brown (she faved tweets anout this too).

We'll see though. Hopefully at least Wayne and Drake will be on it.
