Drake’s album Views has officially gone platinum in its first week.
According to Hits Daily Double, Drizzy’s fourth album opened with 1,075,494 sales plus streaming , the fourth highest total in rap history.
Beyonce’s Lemonade is number 2 with 322,299 sales plus streaming.
The breakdown of VIEWS first week sales is 855,013 traditional units and 220,481 stream equivalents.
Drake’s streaming totals do not include streams of the album’s singles like ‘Hotline Bling’ that came before the VIEWS release. These streams will eventually count for purposes of RIAA certifications.
Here are the five best first week sales in Hip Hop history, and the only five albums in the genre to open Platinum.

50 Cent The Massacre (2005) 1,140,000

Drake’s VIEWS has sold 1.2 million copies in its first six days sales plus streaming, according to the album’s main distributor Republic Records.
And that doesn’t even include the roughly 800,000 equivalent units of streams the album accumulated before its release, courtesy of its singles like ‘Hotline Bling’. (Those #’s count for RIAA certifications, but not for Billboard chart positions.)
VIEWS has been able to post these impressive numbers since its release despite only being available on Apple Music and iTunes. It has so far been streamed 250 million times just on Apple Music. For comparison, Justin Bieber’s Purpose was streamed 205 million times in its first week — then a record — while being available on all the streaming services.
Starting tomorrow (May 6th), Drake’s fourth album will be get a physical release, and the full digital album will be available to other online retailers.
Next Friday (May 13th), it will move to streaming services like Spotify.

Like, Love or Hate him, but Drake is one of the most, if not the most succsessful rapper / hip hop artist that ever lived . Am including against the likes of Tupac, Biggie, Jay z, Kanye, Eminem, lil wayne etc. NUMBERS DO NOT LIE. BUT OPPINIONS MIGHT. add up all his global sales from day 1 to now and all his global charts and global streams no other rapper has topped his numbers. never mind rapper he is also one of the most succsessfull music entertainers to ever do it...
