Could have used a blanket and everything that dealt with the white screen was used to cover it up. Notice how the screen didn't come completely down?
The part with the lights? That can be staged too.
The lights could be in a completely different area or there could have been hidden lights to somewhere to simulate the light going through the area.
There's always an explanation, but the fun comes in the illusion and trying to figure it out.
